Greetings everyone!
I haven't really been into many organisations to work as staff, but in the few ones I've been to, I saw how kindness at different levels played a major role in making the organisation a good working ground for staff and also a go-to area for customers.
I don't know how I've been created to be so strict when it comes to the attitude of some staff in the workplace. I get easily upset whenever I come across an unpleasant attitude of a staff member or even the owner of any business place, and with this, I find it so hard to go back to such a place.
A typical example is most of the banks we have in my country, Nigeria. Some of the staff, especially those at customer service centres, exhibit a very unpleasant attitude where they feel like they're on top of the world. This is exactly one of the things that makes me not visit any bank because I don't want a situation whereby I get into a place with ease of mind and come out with anger.
Funny enough, a lot of people are used to this manner, and it's no longer a thing to them.
People also give reference to nurses in hospitals exhibiting this same attitude.
I'm so glad that I haven't been a frequent hospital goer, so I'm yet to get this hit by them
How can an organisation ignite the satisfaction of employees through kindness?
The last place I worked before I resigned had a very calm manager; although he has his bad sides too, he's so cool and very considerate when it comes to worker issues. He made it very clear to us that we can walk to him to relate any issues bothering us and take permissions too, but we should make sure anything we are bringing to him is not to play smart on him. With that, we found him so free to flow with; we were friends and laughed together. Many times, he would come to the hall and tell us to collect anything (on a gauged price though) for a semi-lunch thing. We were so free, and we found the workplace so comfortable.
When staff are given listening ears, that will go a long way towards softening their minds and making them feel at home, hence giving their best.
Even the CEO of the company, who most of the time comes with his face squeezed, especially when sales are not coming as they ought, oftentimes comes with food gifts like pizza and well-baked bread whenever he's travelling down to visit us. Let me tell you, he once bought me a trouser, a trouser, and a tie.
It may sound like a normal thing, but hey, these acts of kindness relaxed our minds in the workplace and made us take the place as our very own.
| MY KINDNESS JOURNAL |
Today's morning, the first person I replied to her chat when I woke up, begged me for 100 megabytes of data so she could access her bank to recharge. I didn't think twice; I logged into my bank and bought her 100MB.
One funny thing happened afterwards:
Later in the day, my data got exhausted, and my bank refused to work. Luckily, a friend came through for me.
One of my close friends had his wedding today. I transferred some money to him to wish him a happy married life.
Thanks for reading.
This is supposed to be for #dreemport challenge
