Hiking to the Monitoring Tower in Betfia commune, Bihor county

Hello travelers everywhere

Look, the weekend is already knocking at the door and I thought to share with you a wonderful place that I just discovered.

Honestly I don't know if it happens to you, I was sure that the most famous sights here in western Romania, especially in the neighboring county I got to see them all and look that watching a few travel vlogs I discovered another place that I actually knew nothing about.

This is how we discovered the Betfia Monitoring Tower.

Betfia is a village in Bihor county, about 140 kilometers from my house, a road that takes about two and a half hours (in this part of Romania we don't have highways).

Doing some research I discovered that this commune is well known for the bat families that live here.

So last weekend I got in the car and drove towards this place, I honestly didn't even know what to expect, I wasn't sure how landscaped the place is, but when I got there I was amazed.

After following the signs to the Tower and Aven we arrived in a rather large parking lot, here and now we met some workers who were still executing the rest of the unfinished works.

I chatted with them for a while because I was curious about what's going to be built here, so I found out that a tourist information center will soon open here and a place where you can retreat after hiking and relax after a soda, mineral water, coffee or something to eat.

Parking and access to the Tower at the moment are free of charge.

Even though it was hot outside (I think the temperature was over 33 degrees) I met many people eager to hike to this Tower.

That's what we did, we parked the car and walked along a very well marked route.

So come with me on this route.

I have to admit I got a bit sunburned, I forgot to apply SPF cream, but the beauty of the place made me forget everything.

After an easy ascent of about 45 minutes, we made many stops along the way and took many pictures, we resued to reach the tower.
The tower has a height of 12 meters high and we found the most spectacular point of this tower on the top floor of the tower has a glass floor.

After taking a lot of pictures here and of course after filming a bit with the drone we went to the second point that we will visit today.

So we're going to visit the Aven.

What is Aven?

The Aven is a cave with a deep entrance, not as you are familiar with the usual cave entrances.

This cave is also home to several families of bats, and in this case the cave cannot be visited from the inside, only from the outside.
