RE: Oban - a stunning wee town and bay on the west cost of Scotland that gets awesome sunsets

Some gorgeous sunsets there, one of my fave photos I've taken is a sunset seen while on the Isle of Mull a few years ago :-)

And I can now remember Oban, we spent 45 minutes driving round in circles while searching for a street side parking pace before we caught the ferry across to Mull. Oban looked to be a lovely little coastal town, but very busy with traffic when we passed through!

Aye - Mull is a great place for sunsets too. The traffic and parking in Oban is horendous, and the local council also think that therefore it means there is an opportunity to be had and charge for it pretty much everywhere which really has an impact to the independent high street traders. The roads are not the best there, and the problem is that as soon as one of the bigger ferries comes in and empties out with cars and trucks it just clogs up the whole town - not great.

I can imagine, it sounds like Oban suffers the same fate as many other small coastal towns by getting swamped with tourists, but maybe worse as most people are just travelling through, so they don't get the full benefit of tourism with people not spending money there
