EN-PT Destination Mendoza: Buenos Aires 2

in Worldmappin4 months ago (edited)

Welcome all, fellow Hivers, it is with great pleasure that I am on vacation from work, and from Hive too.

But a real vacation requires a minimum of effort to record the moments that immortalize them.

So this is another post, in a series of posts entitled Destination Mendoza where I will be traveling through Argentina for the second time.

Day 3 - August 16

On this day we made the trip from the city of Buenos Aires to Mendoza.

While we enjoyed a great breakfast at the hotel in Buenos Aires, no one could have imagined the hell that was about to unfold!

We decided to dedicate our morning to the beautiful place El Ateneo, a splendid building that houses a bookstore on three floors of pure splendor. From its facade we can admire the beauty of the architecture of the place, and its interior is breathtaking!

We allowed ourselves to explore each corridor and explore all the beauties. In addition to doing some shopping, of course.

We selected two books, which were in Spanish (we are Portuguese speakers). It's interesting that my ten-year-old daughter selected a literature book and insisted on bringing it.

It seems to me that she's going to study Spanish as a foreign language, so I'll think about a course for children.

El Ateneo also has a vinyl section, and we were surprised to see some cassette tapes for sale! Something rare to see! My selection was two Ozzy albums!!

After a few hours we left and surrendered to the ease of imperialist capitalist consumerism: McDonalds. We are not regulars, but to give you an idea of the prices, we paid around USD 8 for a BigMac combo. We discovered that they also serve coffee with croissants, an Argentine classic!

It was time to check in for the flight, and we were surprised to see that the departure airport had changed. Buenos Aires has two main airports and we were prepared to live in the area of one of them, so this unexpected change caused us to reschedule our activities and incur additional travel costs.

Our Uber went through two unexpected roadblocks and had to make some changes to the route, but we had time and didn't worry.

Once at Ezeiza Airport, we found our boarding gate and headed to the boarding area, where the police were very strict in their inspections, which we passed without any problems.

At our boarding gate, our flight was listed as “on time” until it was changed to “Closed” and we were soon informed that our departure would be rescheduled with a 4-hour delay!

Flybondi* gave us a food voucher: a soft drink and two empanadas. Disappointing.

With this flight delay, we missed the time to buy tickets for our snow tour. We had cash (ARS), a credit card and also funds in accounts in Brazil.

Unfortunately, we were unable to find a compatible payment method to transfer these amounts. After much difficulty, we managed to get a payment link and bought the tickets.

Upon arriving in Mendoza we went straight to the snow equipment store, tried on our clothes and shoes, and headed off to rest.

In the next post, we will arrive at the snow park!

Summary of the day:

  • We woke up in Buenos Aires
  • We slept in Mendoza
  • Tours: El Ateneo Grand Splendid

Resumo do dia:

  • Acordamos em Buenos Aires
  • Dormimos em Mendoza
  • Passeios: El Ateneo Grand Splendid

I'm sorry, I thought these responses were automatic!

I thank the curators for the opportunity, and I promise to do a test on the front end in the next post!

A big hug to the whole team From here, in Buenos Aires! tomorrow I'll be at Il Caminito and La Bombonera! (Messi!!)

Only the comments when your post gets added to the map are automatic. We read every post, all curation is done by hand 😃 Let us know how you like our frontend! How was Il Caminito and La Bombonera?

Thanks for stopping by!

I had unexpected problems when using the frontend.

Unfortunately, I only speak Portuguese. I create content in Portuguese and use a translator. But travelfeed doesn't allow you to copy the text you created to translate. This is because it uses a type of content block. (Note that I'm traveling and editing only using my cell phone.)

So I created the text and couldn't translate it into English. I had to improvise some words, and it was a little below my standard quality :)

But now I'm back to creating in InLeo, and now I can select the text and translate it normally. Unfortunately, this is a strategic issue for the developers.

I'm always available to give my opinion if you want an "outside" view.

Somehow missed your reply... Sorry.

If you want the standard html/markdown editor experience like on other Hive frontends, you can switch to it using the button below the editor.

In EasyEditor selecting the whole post works great on desktop, but you are right, it doesn't seem to work on mobile.

EasyEditor has it perks though, for translation using the built-in TravelFeed AI is cool:

Screen Recording 2024-09-05 at 23.56.00.gif

cool!
I have saved a special moment that I intend to post using a computer, so I could test the front-end features better!

La Bombonera is closed to visitors!

What a terrible decision by the board!

What a shame!

That is awesome! I love Buenos Aires! That is so funny you found The Blizzard of Ozz there, that was on my last Three Tune Tuesday! It's such a pretty place, I'm glad you guys had fun there!

Hello!
I'm back from vacation and I'm responding to the comments that I'm late to!
Mendoza is a city with a very different geography than what I'm used to! I missed the green grass, the trees with wide leaves and strong colors. Everything seemed a little dull. The mountains bothered my lenses with the dust, I should have worn glasses... everything was new, and yet I loved the city!

Hello!
I'm back from vacation and I'm responding to the comments that were delayed!
I did look for Ozzy, I like some of his repertoire. I also looked for The Phantom of the Opera, but they didn't have it. I would have bought that one without thinking twice!

Beautiful ✨️

This is probably the most beautiful and majestic bookstore I've ever seen :) !MEME

majestic is a word made for this place! it's surreal!

Surrealism usually implies something incomprehensible and somewhat alien, but here we see a classic, good taste and the denomination of the builders' skill. !VSC

In Brazil, we say surreal when something goes beyond our best expectations, it doesn't correspond to the dictionary meaning. Unless they are people in the arts or literature field, of course!

In fact, it's a classic! And soon we'll go to the "popular" area of the city.
