Colorful Day on The Market

in Worldmappin3 years ago (edited)

I love our open markets! That variety of colors and scents, the calls of retailers who invite customers to offer their products, that exceptional hustle and bustle of the whole market, so vibrant and full of energy, always takes me back to my childhood in the most positive way.

Open Market - Zagreb Kvaternik Squre

I was a very little girl (maybe just seven or eight years old) when my grandma sent me there for the first time. Of course, before I left, she gave me exact instructions on how to recognize and pick the fresh products, not be fooled by skillful retailers, and even negotiate the price.

I always thought and felt my later successes in business, especially in sales and marketing, actually were rooted precisely in this market by wise early age teaching and guidance of my grandma.

This open market is located in Zagreb (capital of Croatia) close to Kvaternik's square, and therefore locally known as such Kvaternik (or Kvatrich) open market (in our language as "Plac na Kvatriću" or just "Kvatrić").

Although we arrived a bit late this time, and the merchants were already tidying up their stalls and booths, the whole smelly, vibrant, and colorful atmosphere was still there, which always cheers me up.

I bought some more natural vitamin C in the form of kiwi. 😉

And my husband bought me a beautiful bouquet of roses. 😍

After all of that, who wouldn't feel alive?! 😃

This is very colorful indeed. And you have taken some awesome photos. Together with what you are writing to describe the market, it is almost as if I can feel the energy when looking at your photos!

Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it, and if I manage to pass just a portion of the energy, it's a huge compliment for me as I'm still just playing with my mobile phone camera, trying to take out of it most possible according to my current knowledge (that I would describe as the first grade of amateur-ish). 😄

You are doing great in my opinion!

I'm also still learning...so let's learn together...lol.

hahaha - Well, why not?! 😀
Are you using some "normal" camera or trying some mumbo-jumbo with a mobile phone camera as I do? 😅

I also started out with just taking photos with a mobile phone camera.

My youngest daughter is seriously into photography though and when she heard about me starting to share photos here and enjoying it, she gave me a NIKON camera on a loan basis to get familiar with it.

But I still know the bare minimum about it and I am still just sticking to the basics. she is also teaching me now about editing with Photoshop and Lightroom.

I have a LOT to learn, but I must admit, I'm enjoying the process.

Oh man, you are in an advanced group with a private teacher. 😀
And when it comes to Photoshop & Lightroom, I would love to use them, but for my occasional amateurish photography, I find it a bit too expensive at the moment.
Besides, I'm also kinda avoiding too much editing, so more or less, my photos are pretty raw.

hahaha...Yes, I appreciate my daughter very much!

If you want to start playing around with some of these programs...I started by downloading Lightroom on my phone from Google Play. I used Adobe Lightroom. It's free.

I told my daughter about you and she also gave me this link to share with you. These are all free programs that you can start playing around with and start using before you start using Photoshop.

There is no need to look at any of these...it's only to play around with and have a look at it now without having to spend any money. But it's totally up to you.

Enjoy!!

WOW - Thank you so much, Jaco!
I will surely try to see what I can do with Pixlr and Photopea (I heard about this last one before, but didn't try it yet) from the list of Photoshop alternatives on the page from the link you gave me.

Yesterday, I went on the Lightroom page to check again, but there was only a paid version available (apparently for the PC). I didn't know that I could download a free version of it directly on my phone through Google Play.

So, when I saw your message, I didn't wait. I went there, downloaded the app, installed it, and here is my first try with Lightroom (probably not the best one, as I was too excited) and my almost always ready for shooting model. 😉 😀
