This is my post for #freewriters 2584 prompt water outlet hosted by @mariannewest
Ever since the last hurricane, the soil in our garden pots has stayed damp. Our weather changed to cooler temps and we had a lot of rain. Plus we have a sprinkler system that goes to the areca palms and garden.
This is how green they are supposed to be
About a month ago I asked my husband if we could turn the minutes back on the sprinklers and he said no because the areca's need the water. I had seen signs of my pineapples looking pale green.
This is what they now look like
I mentioned the water again and showed him my pineapples. This time he cut the water back to 12 minutes, he had it on 24 for the summer. This was 2 weeks ago.
A few days ago, I did not mention my pineapples but said the garden plants were looking bad and I was afraid they were going to get root rot. He says, I can cap this water outlet off, it only reaches the garden plants. He capped it off, but the other sprinkler is the one that hits the pineapples.
Yesterday I started moving the pineapples to the garden area so they will not get any water. I had all but two small ones moved and moved about seven big ones when my husband walked up, he asked what I was doing and I told him. This time he says, you are going to kill me, I can shut this one off and it won't hurt the areca palms, the other ones still hit them. I put all the small ones back yesterday but did not have it in me to move the big ones back so I will do that today.
