This is my post for #freewriters 2247 prompt protect the goblin hosted by @mariannewest
As I was riding with my sisters to a small town in Pennsylvania we saw something back in the woods, it looked interesting so we made a mental note as to where it was, and on the way back to one of the sister's house we stopped on the side of the road where we saw the strange figures. All but one of us walked back into the woods. There were 5 of us, and the one who sat in the car kept yelling at us about what we were doing. She kept screaming, "It is satanic. get out of there."
I looked at it as art, someone took a lot of time and work making all of these creations.
Some were comical like this huge owl with big wide open eyes.
Some reminded me of aliens. These creations were not on the edge of the road but set back in it a couple hundred yards. There were no homes in the area.
Some looked like they were there to protect a goblin.
This one looked eerie but when you get close to it you can not help to admire the work that went into it.
And some made me smile and want ice cream, this castle-looking thing had what looked like ice cream cones placed around it.
I am not sure what this one was supposed to be, maybe it is where the goblin lived and he put a bunch of tall pencils in front of his home in case he needed one to write a letter, or maybe the leads kept breaking and he and tossed them out of his front door.
This was not to scare anyone but it is to say, call 911 if you see harm coming to the goblin.
The goblin heard us talking and came out of his house, (not really), he was a friendly gent. He told us that he was so misunderstood that he had to move to the woods and he built all of these things so people who do not have an open mind, like the one sitting in the car, would not enter. Only the ones to enter were the pure at heart, who could see the goodness in all people and things.
He built this one to show he was peaceful, to him skulls and bones were beautiful, like we think of roses and daffodils. It is all in the eye of the beholder. If we spoke goblin we would know that it is the sign for peace. May peace come to all, may all wars be ended, and all the misunderstood goblins be loved.
