There was a new prompt released in the Freewriters community, asking that we write a short story in just 50 words, using the prompt word, 'clerk' as the inspiration for our writing.

"That'll be €1.29," the clerk said without the slightest hint of emotion in his voice.
The customer worryingly looked at the shrapnel in his hand and jingled it comically, hoping there was enough.
"10, 5," he counted. "Oh, 20." He exclaimed excitedly.
The day was as slow as their counting.
I loved the film Clerks back in the day, but it has been years since I watched it. But, the main character in that film is who I had in mind while writing this. I've worked in a few shops over the years, and while some days can be good, the majority of them are boring.
