This photograph depicts a group of people gathered around an old car with a broken axle or wheel. The car appears to be from the early 20th century, and the attire of the individuals suggests the same period. The incident seems to have occurred in an urban setting, possibly in front of a significant building, given the grand architecture in the background.
The setting of the story depicted a city square in the 1920s that had people congregating around a black automobile that appeared to be rather luxurious but in a very old condition. The Chevrolet standing beside the road with the bonnet raised, its front axle bent and its front wheel twisted in the wrong position was obviously a victim of a very bad accident. Some men and young boys went absent-mindedly while some men in impressive white shirts and flat caps looked worried.
It was shot nearby the scene of an ancient Roman style luxurious building as the elements of architecture and grand columns clearly opposed to the modern accident. The boys, presumably attracted by the noise and of course by a very unusual scene of a car that was left in the middle of the road, le named each other possible causes for the mishap as well as potential stories behind it.
A young man with his arms folded was seen to be contemplating, maybe, how he was going to repair his damaged car or just how a classy car like that could wind up being wrecked. A second boy in a hat far too large for his head drew near and examined the wheel in a manner that seemed as though he were trying to detective it himself.
As such, this essay presents not only a simple case of a car breakdown but community spirit, people’s interest, and the beginnings of the Age of the Automobile.
