RE: The sun sets on Microsoft

I had similar feelings a couple of years ago with regards to my Gmail account. Which is when I signed up for Proton, first free and then went to the lowest tier of subscription. I really like it. Yet, unlike you I have not yet invested the time to make a full switch over to Proton i.e. am still using my gmail which - of course - has been compromised on the darkweb - sigh. I've also toyed with the idea of making an email address just for e.g. newsletter sign-ups (hardly do that anymore though, still...), a friends&family one, an artist one, hmm, I'm sure there could be more, oh, a crypto one. That reminds me, a couple of years ago I wanted to sign up with the Proton email for something crypto, maybe Bittrex? Guess what - Proton Mail wasn't allowed in their country due to its privacy restrictions - yeah... that.

It makes sense to have everything going there and with their multiple email thing and some other features a person is quite protected as far as emails go, not giving everyone the primary email address.

It might be a good idea to switch over your email address for whomever has it. I don't use my email addresses to communicate with friends and family much so I haven't switched them over yet but will shortly, when I have the time. Other than them, there's only a couple that I haven't switched: Dentist, chiropractor and so on. Everything else runs through Proton now and it's glorious...no spam.

As for the privacy thing...yep, that's the thing with Proton Mail, Switzerland has strict privacy laws so having the company operating from there means they have to abide by the law of the country. It's a good thing.
