This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.
If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.
Being in the holiday season, going to the beach is definitely not high on the priority list, except if we can go to some small, quiet beach.
But last week, we had to go to Umhlanga for a meeting and I decided to take the camera with me.
There were two "problems" I had to consider...
It was already cloudy and it was mentioned that there was a possibility of rain during the day...
The beaches could be crowded...
After the meeting, we were in luck. Although it was very cloudy, the sun was shining.
So, we drove down to the area of the main beach in Umhlanga...and couldn't find parking.
I decided to go up north toward the Umhlanga Lagoon Nature Reserve and we found parking there.
We took a walk down to the beach and saw that there were a lot of ships on the ocean. I liked the idea that we were standing in the warm sun, but these ships were all in the shade of thick clouds and it created a nice picture in my mind...
It was as if it was only the beach area that was enjoying the sunshine, with another thick bank of clouds over the city...
Zooming in, you can see that there was quite a bit of activity on the main beach with some people enjoying the water...
We decided to take a walk toward the main beach on the paved walkway...
...with some nice shady areas to walk through.
We frequently found some open spots where you have a clear view of the ocean. And as you can see...with many ships on the horizon.
These two guys were having fun on the beach...
The main beach...with someone flying a little kite from the beach.
I went closer to get a better shot of the kite.
Some activity on the beach...
I looked up and got a unique view of this ship.
We started walking back toward our car. The next, and last photo shows one of our last views of the ocean during this walk.
And with that, we come to the end of today's post.
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
