Hello friends!
Sometimes we like to walk through our favourite and familiar places, and other times along unknown paths that we don't know where they take us, discovering new places. But sometimes both things can happen in the same walk, because I'm walking through a familiar and nearby place, but a new area that was recently opened, is the Pantalán, in the Port of Sagunto, near Valencia, in Spain.
It is a town with a prominent industrial past, especially for its port that is still in operation, but between the port and the beach there was a space that has been restored, giving a new life to the site, and also for the people who now enjoy it, with views of the Mediterranean Sea.
So once again I'm joining the #WednesdayWalk community, an initiative of @tattoodjay and today I share a new urban walk near the sea, recently rebuild and with a modern and industrial touch. Let's go.
It is a space for walking, running, sitting down to get some fresh air and talk, play, or walk the dog, a stretch that takes us towards the sea, with the beach on one side, and, as you can see, the entire industrial complex of the port on the other. Even on the promenade itself, there is a large orange machine or crane that shows the industrial character of the area, in this way they wanted to somehow signify and make this pleasant place different.
And from there, meanwhile, we enjoy the views of the town's coast, its beach and the sea, especially on sunny days like this one, where the sea shines fantastically and gives us peace and calm. From the rocks on the edge we enjoy the view and while we walk and explore the new place, we also enjoy a relaxing and novel walk.
Architectural elements also stand out, such as modern roofs as a decorative and also practical element, because shade is needed, and those stripes help us not to get too hot and enjoy the sea breeze better. Ah, I have hunted shadows...
And further on, there is a space at another higher level, and on the side, there are some explanatory panels, telling us the history of the town and specifically of the port, with photographs that decorate the surroundings. And with their colours they match the rest of the street furniture placed in the upper area, modern seats to sit and talk, and look at the sea!
We continue looking at the sea that hypnotizes us, from different angles, and walking along the entire esplanade, now in the last part built. Apparently there are other phases of the project missing, we will see where it will go, but there we are in front of the sea, and those old structures that seem to come out of the water and that will also be renovated.
We turn around and retrace our steps looking at more details, and we find ourselves wanting to go to the beach right next door, but on the promenade itself there is also a small space with a children's park with slides and other colourful games, which brighten up the place.
There are many details, there are some side stairs that go down directly to the sand of the beach, and that is where we will go... but not before looking again at this new and modern walking area, we look up at the roof structures that can be seen from afar and that give a differentiating touch to a pleasant maritime space that invites us to continue walking today and for many more days, accompanied by the Mediterranean Sea.
I hope you liked the place and the walk!
