RE: #Wednesday Walk - An Early-Morning Walk at Wilson's Wharf

Thats actually a pretty big marina there too, with some very VERY nice looking yachts.

I never realised that Durban would have such a huge boating industry there..

Good to know, so I've got a thing to do when I eventually get over there to have a look!

And you certainly times it with with the sunset too! Great shots you got there!

Thanks for sharing this wonderful sunset walk with me- and the rest of the world...😅

Yes, Durban has a huge boating industry. Durban Harban is one of the largest harbors in Africa and has the largest container terminal in the southern hemisphere... No wonder we have a huge boating industry too...lol.

You'll have a feats looking at some of the yachts here! We love going down there just to look at them...lol.

Thanks for your great feedback, @chocolatescorpi! I do appreciate it!

Have a wonderful day!

WOW ok I didn't know that it was so big but now that I think about it, it doesn't suprise me.

What about the pirate ships around there, do you get any/many because I know a lot of shipping routes have had to change recently due to the pirating....

Yes I'd love to have a look at the boats there, bit would prefer to be on them on the water somewhere though...🤣

Fortunately, we don't have a lot of problems with pirates here...at least not that I know of. But piracy is a huge problem as you go higher up along the African coast.

Yes! I agree with you! It's much better to be on them on the water! That is so true😄!

OK so is that higher up- directly north of South Africa or over to the west past Nigeria and Ghana? (I'm planing a trip over there...hopefully next year...)

And I would LOVE to go out on the water there, hence the questions...😅

Yes, I've heard about some instances along the coast of Mozambique, but it is mainly higher up toward Somali on the East Coast and on the West Coast in the area of Nigeria...

However, as far as I know, they prefer to target large vessels with valuable cargo such as oil, etc...

I don't think anybody will take you out on a cruise which will be too dangerous and/or risky.

No harm in asking these questions, @chocolatescorpi! Safety first! That's the wise thing to do...lol!

Well I really want to get to Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, South Africa and Ghana one day, so let's hope they stay way up north then!

Yeah, it's always in the back of my mind what people think about the fat white tourist, because I know in a few parts of the world they think that are rich- because they are fat, they can afford expensive food, so we MUST be rich, but we know that's not the case at all...so whether I be on a yacht for hire, from a distance I could be the fat white rich yacht owner you know...and demand a ransom, but good luck with that...(Am I being too paranoid now? 🤣

I hear what you are saying and I can understand your concern. I'm not all that familiar with the countries up north, but here in South African waters, you should be safe. We have a high crime rate in the country, but as long as you don't just blindly go anywhere without getting some advice from local people, you should be fine.
But as far as piracy is concerned, we don't have that kind of problem here.

Yup.
One day I'll get there pirates or Not! 🤣
