This Wednesday I had a cold. In recent days, there is an unusual cold in the air. I am used to the fact that in this part of the year, the tropical climate is warming up. I was surprised that there have been temperatures so low that we even have fog in the early hours of the afternoon. So I have been with little activity. There's not much more to tell about my #life, really, so we can move on to commenting on the anniversary of #History that we have for today.
We have a celebration that is at the root issue of cultures and peoples, it is about the issue of #language, or rather the #idiom that we speak as part of our respective peoples or nations. This February 21 is 'International Mother Language Day'.

Este miércoles he estado resfriado. En estos días recientes hay un inusual frío en el ambiente. Estoy acostumbrado que en esta parte del año el clima tropical va calentando, pero me asombró que ha habido temperaturas tan bajas que incluso tenemos neblina a tempranas horas de la tarde. Así que he estado con poca actividad. No hay mucho más que contar de mi #vida, en realidad, así que podemos pasar a comentar sobre la efeméride de la #Historia que tenemos para hoy.

This celebration was proposed by UNESCO in 1999, and was later also approved by the United Nations General Assembly in June 2007. I don't know the reason for the distance between the dates, but I suppose it could be a matter of internal bureaucracy. #UNESCO is an organization dependent on and derived from the UN, so I expected it to have only a few months of separation between being established and then supported by the highest authority. But, reality gives me surprises.
For 2024, the central theme of the celebration is: "Multilingual education: a pillar of intergenerational learning." In addition to having several complicated words, it is an annual motto that involves several areas. All with their own problems. Let's start with education, which is the social training system for the reproduction of a society, and the training of its new generations. I'm taking things to the extreme of reduction in this definition, but it already gives you an idea of how complex and delicate it can be.
The multilingual issue leads us to address the problems of current multicultural nations. There are many examples of people with very different cultures and traditions that, for historical and political reasons, have reached the present day as a single country. This leads us to a series of very delicate difficulties, which in many cases give rise to terrible issues.

Esta celebración fue propuesta por la UNESCO en 1999, y fue luego aprobado también por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, en junio del 2007. No sé bien el motivo de la distancia entre las fechas, pero supongo que puede ser cosa de burocracia interna. La UNESCO es un organismo dependiente y derivado de la ONU, así que me esperaba que tuviera solamente unos meses de separación entre que fuera establecida y luego apoyada por la instancia superior. Pero, la realidad me da sorpresas.
Para este 2024, el tema central de la celebración es: "Educación multilingüe:un pilar del aprendizaje intergeneracional". Y, además de tener varias palabras complicadas, es un lema anual que implica varias áreas. Todas con sus propias problemáticas. Comencemos con la educación, que es el sistema de formación social para la reproducción de una sociedad, y la formación de sus nuevas generaciones. Estoy llevando las cosas al extremo de la reducción en esta definición, pero ya te da una idea de lo complejo y delicado que puede ser.
El asunto multilingüe nos lleva a abordar los problemas de las naciones multiculturales actuales. Hay muchos ejemplos de pueblos con muy distintas culturas y tradiciones que, por motivos históricos y políticos, han llegado a la actualidad como un solo país. Esto nos lleva a una serie de problemas muy delicados, que en muchos casos dan lugares a terribles problemas.

And to complicate things further, the issue of generational change is introduced. Well, it is true that since the attempted definition of #education, above, the issue of training new generations was noted. Y para complicar más las cosas, se mete el tema del cambio generacional. Bien, es cierto que ya desde el intento de definición de #educacion, de más arriba, se notaba el asunto de formar a las nuevas generaciones. Se trata de inculcar el sistema de valores y creencias, el imaginario social, la lengua, y otros rasgos, que son los distintivos básicos de una #cultura. Así que es obvio que hay una generación mayor (en edad), que guía (o da acompañamiento) al proceso de educación de una generación más joven.
En este asunto de la educación, hay varios casos de imposición política de un solo idioma para todo un país de manera exclusiva. Puedo entender que necesitamos un idioma común que sea el idioma oficial para poder comunicarnos con nuestros compatriotas, pero es peligroso negar todas las demás herencias culturales y llegar a ilegalizar la educación en otras lenguas, que es algo muy discriminador que he visto pasar en la historia de varios países.
En fin, la fecha es como para tener un post mucho más largo que este simple post diario. Pero quería compartir mis preocupaciones sobre la importancia de la fecha y sus implicaciones. Ya me despido, deseándote que tú estés bien y que nos podamos leer de nuevo en otra oportunidad.
