Banana Panque Day + Día del Panqué de Plátano [Eng+Spa]

in We Are Alive Tribe11 months ago
‘Banana Pancake Day’… Well, I didn’t know there was a day for that. In fact, I love banana, but I have never prepared a recipe like the one I found today.

Sorry for the abruptness of my opening in the daily publication, I usually start by telling how my #life is going and then go on to comment on some anniversary of #History. But I was a little surprised and wanted to change the pace of my writing a little.

Let's go in parts. In this celebration of sweet #food, the first thing I have to clarify is that the key ingredient in this is a plant product very typical of the tropics, obviously the banana. But, it turns out there is actually a distinction I have to make, there are many varieties of #bananas. There are bananas that must be cooked for consumption, almost mandatory, but there are other specimens of that same family that can be consumed directly. In the latter case, I am more accustomed to calling them cambur, which in other places is called platano.

So what today's #sweet dish has is banana, preferably the type called Cavendish, which according to what I read are the most common on the market. Other types of bananas that are sweet enough can be used, so the recipe is not completely exclusive at that point. When reading a website with its recipe, in #Spanish, at https://lomaculinaria.com/panque-de-platano/, I came across a paragraph that made me laugh, and I wanted to share it:

These are the most common problems with a banana pancake: it may be too dry (= lacked banana), not have enough flavor (= lacked banana), or be too dense (= lacked banana). How to solve it? More banana?

I really liked the sense of humor with which they accompanied the recipe, which seems quite simple to make… Well, I haven't done it myself, so I may be overestimating my abilities in the kitchen, or it may be something very easy.

I would love to try it out in a few days to see how it turns out. Well, I guess today's record was short, but I actually had an uneventful day, and I just wanted to comment on this date of celebration of this dish. Now that I think about it, it seems that the origin of the date is in Southeast Asia, but I couldn't find a source of information that would clarify that for me.

I say goodbye, wishing you that you are well and that we can read again another time.
