It's Time to Build
I'm not much of a builder, but how does anyone become a builder? Do they go to school? Or do they go to the school of TRY, FAIL, SWEAT, TRY AGAIN, LEARN, SWEAT. I don't think I want to learn how to build in an air-conditioned room of 50 people with comfy chairs. I want to learn by immitating, doing, failing, learning and suceeding.
So this month i'm going to learn to build a composting bin. But not one, but three composting bins. We bought the lumber for it, along with a bunch of lumber from a basement demolition, and we're going to build three bins!
As with many of my projects, they're done as time becomes available, so the y sometimes take a long time. Like the woodchips that took over a month to put out, little by little. Here and there. I'm hoping this project will be finished in a few days, but we'll see.
This is the corner of the garden where we want the bins.
We bought nine long slats to fill the back.
Laying out the materials for the project.
Our garden area is resting this year, but it's grown in size. Next spring/summer is going to be the largest garden yet! It's a quarter of our entire back yard!
This is sort of what we're imagining our three bin composter will look like when it's done. We may design it a little differently, maybe with removable slats in front, or maybe even a removable covering.
