Foreword
I ran out of juice last night so to speak that I was not able to write up my birthday post. It felt good to spend time outside the home though. It had been a long time -- at least two years -- that we have not gone out to celebrate. Then last year, we were grieving over Mom's loss. All in all it just felt good to do something different for a change. I've had enough of being cooped up all day long. I really should do this outside activity more often.
Nostalgia
My birthday celebration actually started a few days prior to the actual day. Since it was just me and my daughter, we decided to split the food celebration so there wouldn't be food wastages. Ordering this was like taking a trek down memory lane. I remembered my younger days when my aunt ( who's still recovering from coma) used to buy us whole chicken when we have birthday celebrations. My daughter loved it and thought it was yummy. My nostalgia was fully satisfied as I love the gravy of this chicken dinner.
Blueberry Cheesecake
If there is one cake that I like most in the world, it's blueberry cheesecake. However, there are bakers that make it well, and there are lame ones. My daughter was tasked to find my birthday cake for this year. She scouted and found this for me. Verdict: I didn't like the topping all that much, but the cheesecake and the blueberry were YUMMY! This is one of the best cheesecakes I have ever tasted. (I'm choosy when it comes to cake.)
Snip Snip
I took a photo before leaving the flat and one once I was at the hair salon before the actual haircut took place. I don't fancy going to the salon a lot as it takes so long to have a complete treatment. For this run, I just wanted a haircut -- short one. I love short hair as it not only saves me time for washing my hair, but I also get to save on using shampoo. LOL! My final cut is the photo on the cover of this post.
Cinema
We bought cinema tickets before the scheduled time so we could reserve our seats. There were only three screening times for the movie that my daughter wanted to watch. We got the one scheduled at 4:50pm.
Lunch / Snack
We had a slice of the cheesecake before leaving the flat, so we went for haircut first then late lunch -- Grilled Cheese Sandwich. It was perfect as both of us weren't that hungry. I went for coffee and my daughter went for tea. LOL!
Recap
Two and a half hours after the movie, we decided to cap our adventure day by having dinner at the food court. It was refreshing to see some other people dining out too. It was not busy as it used to be on a similar weekend night long ago before the plandemic happened. I went for light dinner -- Kani Salad with my cucumber iced tea drink. We also learned that the mall closes around 9pm. It used to close an hour later.
Overall: It was good to be out and about for a change. I also noticed that aside from wearing masks, it was not really that strict out there anymore. In the cinema, we were able to sit together and even popcorn was allowed. Yey! There were a bunch of folks also watching Jurassic Park: World Dominion. But the cinema wasn't full. I also noticed a lot of closed shops in the mall now. It's sad to say business has not totally bounced back to as before. The mall wasn't as lively as it used to be anymore. I still prefer to spend the weekends at home so I would not need any mask at all. LOL!
I'm simply grateful for the extended lease of life. Thank you for one more year. As another one begins, I am aware of the changes around me, and honestly, things are not really looking up for us, despite what others may think (I don't believe they think. Most are just mindless sheeples believing all the lies being fed to them by the government a.k.a. the circus (for us).) Well, perhaps I will see you again next year and see how life has been.
