IAAC: Gratitude For Life

in We Are Alive Tribe5 months ago

Happy weekend to everyone! It's a pleasure to be part of a community that acknowledges life's challenges expressing gratitude for being alive. It brings me great joy to find like-minded people here because I've learned to be grateful to my creator for every challenge I face. This has inspired me to write down some ideas that might benefit others too.

I'm not a religious person, but I've found that some things from religion work for me since I was raised in a Christian family.
I once shared my story on Hive about going through my first pregnancy out of wedlock, which was a very tough time for me. My parents rejected me and wouldn't let me stay at home because I was pregnant. I don't blame them because they were church workers and didn't want anything to stain their service. In my denomination, it was seen as a shame if a child became pregnant out of wedlock.

I struggled and faced a lot of rejection, but during those tough times, I remembered what my late grandmother used to say to me: "Nobody cares about you. It's how you handle yourself, prioritize your happiness, and keep working until you make it."
I didn't understand her words when I was younger, but they made sense to me later. When I was pregnant, rejected at home, and had to live with my boyfriend, I didn't let it bring me down, even though my close friends rejected me too. Here's a surprise: I later found out that some of those friends who mocked me also got pregnant out of wedlock.
I went through a lot, looking for jobs to meet my needs.

One day, I met an angel, a lady who had been in the same situation when she came to purchase something at my workplace. That encounter was the beginning of my relief.

I will share some important life tips we should all understand:

  1. Do not look down on yourself. There was a time I wished the ground would swallow me up because of what happened. I realized this world is meant for us humans, and it's natural to make mistakes and learn from them. So, do not look down on yourself when you make mistakes.

  2. Relate with people. This saved me a lot. Today, I don't live with my parents, but I have forgiven them. I'm happy to be alive after going through that experience. If I had contemplated suicide, I would have taken my baby's life and my own. But now, I'm living happily with three kids.

This reminds me to be grateful. I am using this post to say I am alive and thankful. Thanks for reading, and have a lovely weekend.
