A sunny day in my village and a temperature of 24 °C.
Today Friday has been quite hot in my town, in the morning I went out with my wife to do some shopping for the weekend and am currently working mostly online, catching up on my backlog of work.
Yesterday I was not very active in HIVE, I was observing and enjoying the parade and activities celebrating the 180th anniversary of the founding of my town by German immigrants, all my life I have lived in this beautiful town, a tourist site par excellence of my country, I leave you a review of the history of my beloved town.
Colonia Tovar is a Venezuelan city, capital of the Tovar municipality, in the state of Aragua. It was founded on April 8, 1843 by a group of German immigrants from the then Grand Duchy of Baden (later incorporated to Germany). It is characterized by maintaining the cultural imprint of its origin, which is why it is called "the Germany of the Caribbean" or "The German Town of Venezuela". It is famous for its culture, its mild climate and the cordiality of its people. It depends basically on agriculture (where temperate climate crops such as peaches, strawberries, beets, cauliflower, carrots, cabbage, chard, broccoli, lettuce, scallions and potatoes) and tourism. It is located 65.5 km west of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, and at an altitude of almost 2,000 meters above sea level. It has a very varied German gastronomy, the main dishes being the different types of charcuterie, such as sausages. Since 1990, it has shown a high population growth rate, from 3373 to 14161 inhabitants in 2011.
Happy birthday Colonia Tovar, thanks for stopping by my post, and we'll be reading each other another time.
