Do We Need Sugar ?
Sugar Implication
#1. First as many people already know, diabetes and obesity is the most popular effect of too many sugar intake in our body.
#2. Second, the cardiac disease. Based on a study on JAMA Internal Medicine's Journal on 2014, too many sugar intake can cause increase on blood pressure, it's also can cause an increase of fat production on liver, production of trigliserida, and LDL which all of them are main factor for cardiac disease.
#3. Third is cancer. I just had a socialization yesterday from cancer foundation that said the risk of cancer can improved for people with obesity.
There is still many more effect of it, you can do research on your own, and find that the sugar effect can be a serious problem for our body.
It's Everywhere
Beside the food that I've mention, we are served with so many product with sugar on it. Any sweet tasted drink are having it, with around 20gr on each bottle. How much do we need them a day ? Well, based on Indonesia's Health Ministery, we only need around 50gr. Now just count how many sugar you took every day, do we have space for those sweet drinks ? Oh.. and lately, Indonesia's government already banned all formula's milk to shown on television in order to support more breastfeeding, which is great, because they have lot of sugar as well.
How I Control My Sugar Intake
In my opinion, the best way is to remind myself about those bad effect the sugar had, this way, I'm avoid consuming the sweet drink with lot of sugar on them, and took more water instead. Mineral water are way cheaper and healthier. I only took those sweet drink as self reward or on certain celebration.
Replacement for Sugar
It's kinda hard to replace the sugar, I think that the honey is more healthier option, but it's also contain a lot of sugar. I have seen a video that stevia could be an option, but I haven't research about it yet, so I still don't find the right answer for this. Getting less sweet food and drink is still my only way to reduce the sugar intake rather than replace them.
