In life, there is too little or too much of everything and finding a balance is one thing that is hard to achieve with so much efforts made. The same applies to news about citizens from a country to it's citizens, there's never a day without a new update that should be shared but let's be true to ourselves, not all gets to every citizen of the country.
Even if the Government makes it a point of duty to make sure every news is aired and passed across to her citizens, not all the citizen will get it because there are citizens who are refusing or don't care to exercise their right to information as they should.
There is no doubt that sharing every news or updates with citizens will have both it's Pros and Cons, that is the angle I'd like to share my thought from. First of all, I'm one of those citizens that is almost never interested in what is happening in her country but somehow I still get aware of a lot of things happening.
So there are news that no matter how well spread they are, may never get to some citizens and there are some news that will still get to the citizens even if it takes time or was hidden at first. What we fear most about these things is, believing fake news until a true news comes up and it seem like just another fake.
In my country Nigeria, we've had a countless times of fake news aired just to get citizens tensed or relaxed about some things but that doesn't mean, citizens want to stop hearing about what is happening in the country they live in. Deep down, we all want it or should I say, we all need it. Even if a lot of the news may hurt, it's best to hear them and stay alert or prepare for whatever it may be.
The Pros of having the citizens get all the news is that, we get to be more confident about our day to day living and this is for when the news is favourable and we are positive about what is promised to happen. Although a lot of times, this turns out to be yet another misinformation or false information.
Citizens get to exercise their right to information, be aware of the leaders they elected to rule and be in charge of things around them since they are aware of what is going on. It's almost like it's a bad news everyday and that is where the Cons of getting every news come in.
I've heard of people who lost control of themselves, kill themselves and even kill other people just because of news they've heard even from Government. It's scary what some news whether true or false could do to it's citizens when it isn't properly relayed. Can there be a better way to relay a bad news for those who will perceive it as a bad news? I'm not sure but there should be someway.
Everything can not be balanced especially with news that could even be spread to one who is just trying to laugh away on Tiktok, news updates are everywhere online and offline with people gathering to share what they know. It's part of the way of life and so I can't say citizens should be allowed to hear only what they want to... It's quite impossible for that to happen.
Let's just have in mind that there are consequences and there are benefits to getting every updates about our country, that is if we can (not possible either) and so I think citizens should be ones controlling what they should hear or not hear, not the other way round.
