Privacy Intruded, Cyber Security Activated

in Hive Learners2 months ago

The world keeps advancing in technology and the same goes for cybercrimes, scammers and hackers are getting better at how to get more victims. It is only easy for them when the victims have little or no knowledge of cyber security and it's important that more people are taught how to go about this.

I can't even say I've become resistant to possible hacks after my past experiences but I've gotten better in securing my life in technology. This is easy to achieve but not without the knowledge of how to go about it.

I've learnt from the experiences of many around and my own experience that cybercrimes are real and ever ready to attack a victim if no security plans are made. Just recently, I was notified to ignore any message or update from an account on X because it has been hacked... Privacy has been intruded by someone who feels he knows a lot more to hack into another's info, it's scary actually.

Even if the account is gotten back, it's mostly a case of lost account once it has been hacked but I guess technology isn't sleeping at all as even cyber security processes are becoming complex for hackers and there are now ways to gain lost accounts back, at least some accounts.

The one time an account of mine was hacked, I was still ignorant to what hacking or cyber security was about. I didn't even realized my account was hacked, I just kept thinking I had forgotten a password I set myself, it was funny that day. Until a friend who knew better figured out that my account was hacked, I had to create a new account but not without all the possible cyber security activation I could do then lol.

That experience didn't teach me as much as an experience a friend I knew had some month back. It was shocking and painful for us then, my friend lost so much and it took time for her to recover from the loss. These things happen when we least expect them even though we may be the ones giving access for it to happen to us sometimes... What happened? Her bank account got hacked, how?

We didn't wonder much how they were able to get access to her bank account and take out so much of her money because she did something stupid without realizing she did. This friend of mine wanted to get some new items from an online shop but didn't verify that they were real online vendors before she inputted her bank card details for the purchase.

She didn't get the items she ordered for but instead, she kept getting debit alerts until she visited the bank and they traced it to her last transaction with them. Before the bank could blocked the account from the scammers, my friend had lost her savings and was in tears already.

Since that day, this my friend prefers buying items at shops by herself as she developed a Phobia for sending money to an online seller. It's understandable but getting hacked that way was partly her fault for letting them have the access and not all online vendors are scammers but then again, it's understandable.

I also learnt from that experience to mind whatever thing I do online and avoid giving access to my account or profile on sites I am not familiar with or seem suspicious to me. It's not easy to discern this but being very conscious of the possibility is helpful to increase your cyber security and avoid intrusion of privacy.

The power of knowledge it is, those hackers are better than their victim because they know something that their victims don’t know about. I can imagine how devastated your friend must have been, too bad she has to learn the hard way.

I’m very sure we all have had a fair taste of these in one way or another so we just have to keep learning and growing our knowledge so we don’t fall victims.

She was really devastated, an experience no one would want to have a repeat.
Indeed, we keep learning.

Thank God for time, as they say it heals all wounds, hehe

Hey, Meh Meh. I'm glad you have learnt from the experiences of people around you and from your experiences that cybercrimes are real. Most people are ignorant that is why they fall into the hands of cyber criminals.

I pray people learn to not be ignorant of the importance of cyber security.

This is so heart breaking, money is not so easy to come by so no matter how little the naira is its better to hold it well.

I just wish to gain more sound knowledge on how to save my details to avoid all these crime

It was really painful for her, but it's all in the past now and she has learnt better

What a terrible experience for your friend.. imagine losing her life savings..this is why I find it difficult to use my debit card for online transactions...I don't care if people sees it as acheic or whatever..I just don't feel safe with it
Well, we continue to learn daily

That's it o
Buying directly from shops doesn't hurt 😅

Since that day, this my friend prefers buying items at shops by herself as she developed a Phobia for sending money to an online seller.

This is why I don't blame people that don't like anything online. It's not their fault at all.

Same here, I understand them totally.

That's why I don't like buying things online. The rate at which they scam people these days is just too much

The rate is high my dear, it's better to avoid them totally if you can.

These attacks are becoming more and more frequent. What terrifies me is how those who perpetuate these ills are steadily coming up with new tricks to do these. Even clicking on links is now scary these days. Terrible.

That links part is baffling really, we never know the link that would give access to our small money 😅

It is good to have little knowledge about cyber security, even if it just how to protect yourself. Alot of people has lost a lot of things due to these attacks from the hackers. I hope your friend recovers from that attacks.

Besides Happy birthday to you my beautiful princess 💕

The knowledge is really important, she recovered fine but the loss was a lot.

Thanks Money 😊
