An engaged mind is heaven's playground. What a beautiful opposite of An idle mind is devil's workshop. I've never had to think if the popular saying about an idle mind has a positive opposite until this prompt and I couldn't help but smile to what it is.
Many things could lead to an idle or boring moment, especially for someone who rarely goes out to socialize or even do daily jobs outside. But I've learned that those who have been working then stops go through a stronger series of boredom to deal with.
I'm among the first... Rarely go out so I try to enjoy my own time alone in many ways.
First of all, one has to realize when boredom is about to set in, what to do about it and how to get rid of it. Although I'm still trying to figure it all out on that but it's been much easier than before. From my experiences, I've realized I don't enjoy being bored for too long and it has helped me stay active as much as I can to avoid it.
Boredom will surely come, anything could be the cause, from being idle or having nothing to do, to being sad about an incident or remembering something that happened in the past. I've had a few boredom come from replaying what someone said to me, which is not good.
If there is one thing I hate about boredom or being idle, is the feeling of "no use of self" I get from it so I struggle to make good use of myself at that point. There is even the feeling of low self esteem in some days, it's a war zone when boredom set in.
You go from looking happy or feeling good to looking dejected or depressed, you just sit and wonder all the things you could do to get rid of how you're feeling at that moment. For me, a few things come to mind and the ones I do most often that has worked are quite simple.
Music is my first go-to and to get rid of the boredom as quick as possible, I listen to only my favourites first. I've come to understand that happy and love songs makes me happy, so I go for those kinds.
Friends hangouts has helped me on a few bored moments but I still find it hard to do that often since I left school, it works like boredom never happened. Now, I just get on calls with my friends when I feel bored and effect isn't so bad.
Meditation and writing go together to help me stay calm and remind myself that it's only a moment and it won't last long if I should just go through it. This one not only strengthen my mind, it also strengthens my writing skill and financial pursuit hehe.
There are many other things I do to fight with boredom like watching funny skits, learning about something new, exploring anything even if it's just for fun and singing songs.
