Selling lemonade as a paradigm / La venta de limonadas como paradigma

in Hive Learnersyesterday (edited)

For people who are not native to North America, selling lemonade in the summer as a child entrepreneurial activity is something we only see in movies, cartoons, or comic strips.

And I think it is easily an example that entrepreneurial activity needs an ideal climate in which to flourish.

Prosperous countries or those with a good standard of living tend to have a more favorable climate for enterprises, and we are not even talking about children organizing lemonade sales.

When a national economy has a great difference between its macroeconomic and microeconomic indicators, that is when the business climate for small ventures becomes difficult.

Because if consumers in my area barely have enough for their daily needs and struggle to make ends meet, they will hardly buy something they do not really need or that is not essential.

And we go back to the example of lemonade stands in the United States. In middle and upper-class neighborhoods, most people probably have their own lemon trees, but what they have in common is that they have money in their pockets that is not intended to cover a vital necessity.

So as financially stable adults, it is easy to support our neighbors' children in their holiday business, and thus, through community support, the spirit of entrepreneurship is fostered in children from a young age.

It is also worth mentioning that in this example of selling lemonade, the earnings go entirely to the child who owns the stand, to do with that money as they please, a reality that does not apply to child laborers in the so-called global south, who are almost always exploited by adults or criminal gangs.

But getting back to the topic of the title, do you believe this culture of entrepreneurship can be applied to more countries, or is it purely American?

Thank you very much for stopping by my blog and reading this little ramble.

This tradition is a bit different, I don't know how you will see it, but I too had participated in a similar activity during my school time, but that was quite different.

On children's day, that too some year, A fair was planned in the school as a separate activity and for that children were asked if they wanted to set up any kind of stall. The children who agreed to this would bring something prepared from their homes, either alone or in a group, and would set up a stall of that food in the fair organised inside the school.
Obviously that money remained with the children but I feel that there is another side to all this that it helps children understand the value of money that how much effort their parents put in to earn money, so they have to become responsible and be appreciative of what they have. :)

Sending Love and Ecency Vote!

Super interesting! I think that was a great activity, and of course, kids do learn how money comes home, and it would be great if that practice should be included as a subject all the year, don't you think it would be great for children?

Thanks for sharing your experience and for all 😊
