Greetings everyone!
One thing that made half of my last Friday worrisome was the Olympic Qualifier match between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and the Banyana Banyana of South Africa. It was a two-legged match, and the first one happened in Abuja last Friday. Before the match, the tension on us (Nigeria) was so high because the South Africans have been a thorn in our flesh recently, coupled with the fact that they're currently the African Champions.
Being a very patriotic person, coupled with my vast knowledge of sports concerning Nigeria, I was so much interested in the match, which got me scared of the South Africans winning us. That would automatically cancel our hope of going to Paris for the Olympics later this year. My troubled mind was relieved after the match ended with a goal in favor of us (Super Falcons Of Nigeria), and at that moment, the internet went on fire with all the South Africans believing with strong faith that the next match, which is the return leg and the last match to seal the ticket of qualifications which would happen in Pretoria, that they were surely going to win with a big goal margin, which would cancel our win and take the ticket to the Olympics (Paris 2024).
People who know football will understand better the tough fight attached to the last match of a qualifying series.
Each time I came across in social media, the South Africans' word-studded belief in winning us and not minding that we've already won, my head swells up, and I usually take my time to type a minimum of 300 words to trash talk their faith and belief with good facts and precision.
@humbe, can we place a bet of 100 HIVE ??
So, if I'm kidnapped and along the journey, one of the kidnappers chips in this talk about how South Africans are going to beat us in the next coming match happening on Tuesday, 9th April 2024, in Pretoria, South Africa, man, even in the hot seat of danger, I wouldn't keep my mouth shut. I would start giving all the instances, making them see the very little slight chance of the South Africans qualifying. I wouldn't go far in examples; I would pick up the example of the recently played Champions League match between Napoli and Barcelona. In Napoli's home, the match was drawn, which, by calculations, geared Napoli's mind towards qualifications. They said a lot with their calculations and pieces of paper striking permutations while the other side, Barcelona, remained silent and knew what to do. You know what happened in the return leg at Barcelona; Napoli was beaten black and blue. This same thing is happening to the South Africans right now; many hypes from a calculated draft while we Nigerians are silent, waiting for the D-day.
If I get talking tirelessly with full facts backing my talks, I would surely shut down the talks of the kidnapper, which will get them provoked, and they either cover my mouth to stop talking, or they drop me off on the road.
Also, not so many people are fans of football.
Oh yeah, we have a lot of people who are into football, but just a few know the categories of FIFA, AFCON, and Olympics. So, my talk may get my kidnappers bored, and they have no option but to drop me off on the highway.
Thanks for reading.
