We learn something everyday, learning may be form anyone. Those learnings enhance our experience. After home, schools are the place where kids learn many things, form general Etiquette to the knowledge of different subjects. Those are very essential for the growth of any kid. But one thing I am missing in school curriculum is the knowledge of First Aid. To be honest I have not get any basic knowledge of First Aid during my schooling. Even my kid is also going to school and is in 1st standard, till now I have not observed any First Aid class or workshop of her. In my opinion this should be part f school education system and all kids should be away of same.
We saw the First Aid kit is mandatory in many places like vehicles, public places and even at homes. But if no body knows how to use it, its of no use, its just a wastage.
First Aid is also important as it is the medical support available at first place. It is more crucial in some cases and become life saver in many cases. For example in case of open wound, first priority is reduce the flow of blood. The wounded person may lost major part of her blood before reaching the hospital as in many cases the it took some time to each the hospital. In such cases the first aid lay a very important role, as using the first aid kid the flow of blood can be reduced. A typical First Aid kit included - Bandages, Antiseptic Wipes, cotton roll, Antiseptic cream, pain killer and a small Scissors etc. Most of time those items are sufficient for the first hand support.
In old days those techniques were taught by the elder of family to the younger member of the family. And this way the transfer of technology takes places. People were dealing with such situation were the use first aid on daily basis . It was also important because of the unavailability of hospital near by.
I remember an incident happened two months back, which I would like to share with you all.
Me along with my family (wife and kid) are staying in city and my mother and grand mother are in our native village. They are more comfortable to the village life so they use to stay with us for some weeks then go back to the village. Two month back we were returning back form the village and just after entering the city my kid ask if we can stope at some place for the snacks as she was feeling hungry. We stopped at an restaurant for snacks. My wife was siting on front seat and I was driving. My mother along with my kid were on rear seat. Me and wife after getting down from the vehicle were waiting form my kid and my mother to come out of the vehicle. My mother opened the car door and comes out but at same time my wife placed her hand, on space between the opened door and the car body. My mother was unawarded of it and after getting down from the car she closed the door. Unfortunately the finger of my wife were sandwiched between the car body and car window. She was crying because of the pain. I rushed to her and check the condition of her hand. One finger of her was badly injured and blood started comes out form the wound. I was thinking of what to do and checked the front space of my vehicle and find the firth aid kit. I immediately cleaned the wound and done the dressing. After having the pain killer she was felling fine. Thanks the first aid kid that i was able to control the situation.
The first aid is not just the first aid kit it also means the some other important activities like ABC (Airway, Breathing, and Circulation). I still remember a incident form my childhood. I was in primary call and we use to play with the Glass Marbles. The glass marbles looks attractive bit they are equally dangerous as kids put them into mount and their are changes of getting them swallow, which results in the choking also. One kid form our neighbor was paying with glass marbles. I was also standing next to her. The kid put the glass marble in her mount and unfortunately she swallow it. I come to know when I saw she was choking. My uncle us also standing their she immediately understand the situation and start punching on her back. Fortunately the marble comes out of her air pipe and she start breathing normally.
