Academic brilliance comes with hard work. When some students are busy sleeping, some are burning their candles all night. Should there not be a reward for that? Well I don't think that the answer should be no. The answer is yes. We need such encouragement from all sides.
From my little research, I have come to realize that most students who do well academically are from poor family background. Maybe there poor background makes them to study hard so as to move away from such life style. While the rich men's kids don't need to worry about anything. Before they were even born every thing has been made available for them. They get a lesson teacher to teach them at home. They get the opportunity to study in a well prepared environment that supports learning. What does the poor man's kids get? Government school that goes on strike everytime. But even in all of that some of these kids from a poor background study very hard to pass their exams. I think that such kids deserves a very big reward.
I don't just want a Cash reward for such students. If it is possible, there should be a scholarship that will help that child to concentrate in study instead of coming back home school and start hawking to make ends meet. If we move around our cities we will noted that such children are littered all over the place selling one thing or the other to make money for their fees.
HOW CAN CASH REWARDS HELP A BRILLIANT STUDENT?
Some of these brilliant students that I have mentioned if given a cash rewards will study hard for a better future. We will understand that most students that are drop out, do that just because there is no one to pay their fees for them and probably buy books for them together with other things needed for school. But have you ever thought of what will happen to such kids if they have people who can take good care of them? They sky will be their starting point! Yes and that is how I see it. All limitations taking away. And now is just study, read, go for your studies and what have you.
I personally went through alot during my NCE days back then. Though is just seven years ago. Most times I go to school without taking any food at home just because there is none. All that I do is to make sure that my kids have something to eat when they come back from school. I kept struggling until I graduated in the year 2019. Even with all the struggles I still came out with one of the best results. Imagine if I had some cash rewards at the end of the first year because of my results? I would have done better the second year. Although we wrote a scholarship exams after year one and we were told that they money that will be given to us will be enough for us to finish the whole studies. I wrote that exams in the year 2017 ending. Hoping to get the money beginning of 2018 beginning so that I can use it for to settle everything that has to do with school, books, project and even my transportation. Till today we are still waiting for the money. Hahaha 😂. My friends, if it is in Nigeria, you will wait until you forget the reason why I are waiting. Presently I am a 400 L students just waiting for three months to graduate from school, yet the money promised me to use to sponsor myself in school last six years ago in still hanging. Hahaha 😂. Nigeria! Who did this to us? How did we get here? How do we get out of this problem
Please 🙏 if there is any how we can keep saying this particular thing until it gets to the people in charge, we need to keep talking about it. A country like Nigeria is rich enough to provide scholarship program for all it's citizens. We are not supposed to be going through all of these hardship in this country, yet this is where we are today.
