Today I visited a small coffee shop, very cozy, located in a place full of history, at the Central University of Venezuela.
What a delightful coffee, its flavor and aroma reflect the care with which it has been cultivated and the care taken in selecting each bean by hand.
Lately I have discovered treasures that have been there for a long time and I didn't know of their existence, from songs, books, podcasts, series and now the coffee shop “Café Melosa”, it turns out that there are other locations in Caracas and I am sound asleep just drinking coffee at home.
But this time it was impossible to pass it up, I mean, last week I went to visit a friend at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and on the way I saw the ad for this relatively new venue....
Oh, come on, this is really interesting, “real origin coffee”, this coffee has to be intense and genuine, I thought.
It seemed that I was following a clue, “Café Melosa” knows how to attract attention, I have to go and see what it is about, even if it's from far away, my friend is waiting for me and I don't have much time.
I timidly took a look and saw no trace of the cafeteria, of course it is located in a room inside the Casona, something that is very special because it is the Casona Ibarra which is located on one of the hills of the old Hacienda San Diego at the Central University of Venezuela, a beautiful piece of colonial style in which Simon Bolivar, the Liberator of Venezuela and other Latin American countries, stayed.
I am sure that this cafeteria is and will be a very special and popular place for the students of this university and its visitors.
That day I went on my way, but I wanted to know “Café Melosa” and today I went out with that intention.
☕☕
Upon entering I had a good impression, a very simple but very cozy place.
To accompany our delicious coffee this time there was not much variety, perhaps in the morning there are more alternatives, I went in the afternoon. I will have time for another visit that I am sure I will make frequently, although to tell the truth I prefer the tranquility of the afternoon, it is possible that in the morning or midday there are more people.
The lemon cakes in the center of the above photo looked very delicious and fluffy, but I chose the best one for my taste, the last chocolate one left, I think it was waiting for me, after all the universe is good to me even if I sometimes complain.
A cup of brown coffee, very delicious, by the way: only $1.00
A piece of chocolate sponge cake: $2.00
Saltine crackers: 0,5$.
There was no waste here, everything was delicious and affordable.
I think I made my visit at a good time, it would soon be late afternoon, however, the sky was still bright.
This coffee shop, despite being very small, has a lot of style, look at the beautiful coffee maker that is part of the paraphernalia of the place.
And everything as a whole creates an atmosphere in which I felt at ease and wanted to return.
I knew that my delicious order was going to be a bit cloying, as the portion of cake is quite generous, so I also ordered the crackers to close the meal. Good start and good close, what more can I ask for when it comes to drinking coffee?
Also, I think those mugs with internal prints are very stylish.
Nice on the outside, nice on the inside... Nice corner of Caracas that we can appreciate with a good coffee.
