A loving greeting to all my Hive friends, especially to coffee lovers. Today I want to share with you a very delicious coffee experience I had thanks to my friend Ayelen, who brought me a very special gift a few days ago, when she was visiting Venezuela. Ayelen is a beautiful, intelligent, hard working Argentinean girl who lived in Venezuela for many years. During all those years, she lived in the moor of Táchira state, specifically in the community of Queniquea. In those years, Ayelen participated in the coffee picking in the fields and always told us how she learned a lot from Mr. Carmelo and his family. In 2017 Ayelen said goodbye to Venezuela and her paramos and her coffee, to return to her cradle in Argentina, but this year she is back.
This year my friend was in the páramos of Táchira state to remember the years she lived there. Aly and I live at the other end of Táchira state, far away from the páramo, almost reaching the Venezuelan plains. Even so, Ayelen came to see us and brought us a package of coffee from the family of Mr. Carmelo, her teacher in those coffee lands. Ayelen knows that we are coffee lovers, so she brought us with her visit one of the best coffees of Queniquea.
The aroma that flooded our kitchen when we opened the package was simply wonderful. The coffee, with its dark color, promised an intense and flavorful experience. As we brewed a cup, we could appreciate the quality of these beans grown with such care and love. The flavor was deep, complex and a light floral touch. A true delight.
We enjoyed every sip of this comforting drink, remembering the stories and experiences Ayelen shared with us about her time in Venezuela and her apprenticeship with Mr. Carmelo. Those afternoons when Mr. Carmelo's children would arrive to tell her that the following morning there would be a harvest. The coffee not only captures the history of an entire community, but also the love of a family and a friendship that has transcended time and distance. As well as the friendship between Ayelen and us that despite having spent eight years without seeing him, the love was just as great when it was time to see each other, if possible even more, because it is a gift to have friends like Ayelen and more if the meetings are always accompanied by a good coffee.
We are deeply grateful to Ayelen for this special gift and for allowing us to enjoy this exquisite coffee that has transported us to the coffee fields of Queniquea. Finally we said goodbye to her at the airport, definitely the hardest part of the reunions are the new goodbyes. But when Ayelen had already left and her absence invaded our home, joy returned to us as we prepared a new cup of coffee, which we drank and enjoyed.
It was beautiful to share this experience with you. Excited and with a cup of coffee in my hand, I leave you with a big hug.
