BIBLE TEXT:

Then the Lord said to Cain, >Why are you angry?
Why is your face downcast?
If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?
But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it (Genesis 4:6-7).

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:

It doesn't matter what you do; God is more concerned about whether you are doing it well.

MESSAGE:

Until something is done the way God wants it to be done, it's not yet done as far as He is concerned.

It doesn't matter what you do. What matters is what God thinks about it.

Our text for today tells us about an incident involving God, Cain and Abel.

Cain and Abel brought offerings to God. Abel's offering was accepted but Cain's offering was rejected by God.

As a result, Cain was displeased. God responded to him, saying, "Cain, if you had done well, you also would have been accepted".

The subject matter was giving God an offering. But to God, it was about doing it well.

Are you serving God the right way?

If you don't do this well, your service will not be pleasing to God.

It's possible for you to be a committed member of your church and not be approved by God.

We must always ask ourselves this all important question: am I doing it well?

It will definitely be a waste of time to use up all your strength doing something, only for it to be rejected by God.

Can you ask the Lord whether you are doing things well? If you aren't, ask Him to help you love and serve Him well.

All of Cain's effort was in vain just because he didn't do it well.

May grace be granted to us to do it well in the sight of God.
