A mother's tale of faith and healing
Finding hope and healing
Good evening, y'all amazing people!
As I sit here in the quiet of my home on this Palm Sunday evening, I'm reminded of the significance of this day and the week that follows. For me as a Roman Catholic, today marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final stretch of the Lenten season.
For us Christians, we know that Palm Sunday is a day of great importance, commemorating Jesus Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The Lenten season is a time of reflection, prayer, and penance, leading up to the commemoration of Christ's passion, death, and resurrection. But this year, my Palm Sunday was a bit different. Instead of attending the mass, I found myself at home, caring for my daughter who is down with a high fever. Myy heart was heavy with worry. But amidst the uncertainty, I held onto my faith, knowing that God is watching us. And while I missed the communal celebration, this situation allowed me to experience Lent in a different light. In the quiet of my home, I had the opportunity to meditate and pray. I reflected on the journey of Christ, His sufferings, and His ultimate sacrifice.
I had the time to reflect on my life, my journey, and how I can strive to be more like Christ in my daily life. Being a parent, I couldn't help but think about Mary, the mother of Jesus. How she must have felt, seeing her son being arrested, tortured, and crucified. It's a pain no mother should bear. Yet, she stood strong, her faith unwavering. And in my daughter's feverish state, I felt a glimpse of that pain. Last night, her temperature reached 39.8 degrees celcius. That is freaking hot. It was in the middle of the night and I really got so worried. But it also reminded me of the healing power of Christ. Just as He rose from the dead, I know my daughter, too, will recover. As of the moment, her temperature is decreasing. Thank God.
And just as Mary found strength in her faith, so do I. In the end, Lent is not just about the rituals or the traditions. It's about the journey of faith, of reflection, of sacrifice, and of hope. It's about finding strength in our struggles and believing in the promise of resurrection and new life. As we journey through this Holy Week (those who celebrate it), let us remember the true essence of Lent. Let's take some time to reflect, to pray, and to appreciate the sacrifices made for us. And let's look forward to the joy that Easter Sunday brings, the celebration of Christ's resurrection, and the promise of new life.
Until next time, let's keep each other in our prayers. A blessed Holy Week, everyone!
