Paris photos - at the Eiffel Tower

in Photo-essay6 days ago

When my granddaughter was very small she loved hearing my tales of visiting Paris and all the sights that I had seen there. I promised her that when she was older I would take her to Paris.

And then multiple sclerosis got in my way of being able to travel. My son and his wife fulfilled that dream for both my granddaughter and I when she graduated from high school this year.

She had worked at a part-time job all through High School and had saved her money, she took 4 years of French language classes, and graduated with honors, and was certainly due a wonderful graduation gift.

Starting even before their plane took off from Chicago they began sending me pictures and texts and making me feel included in the trip.

And photos! There are thousands! I don't even know where to begin... So let's start at the Eiffel tower!

The 2024 Olympics will begin at the end of July and the Tower is decorated for the event.
Paris will become the second city along with London to host the Summer Olympics three times. Paris last hosted the Summer Olympics in 1924, and 2024 will mark 100 years since the last time they hosted. .

Going through security before taking the elevator ride to the top of to see the views.

Completed in 1889, the tower attracted nearly 2 million visitors during the 1889 World’s Fair. It was the tallest building in the world at the time.

Even though I didn't get on the plane, I feel like I was there, too!

Thanks for sharing the photos!!! I haven't visited Paris yet, but it is on the "travel list"... I hope I will make it one day... :)

It's practically in your backyard! At least compared to mine.

Hahaha... ONly a 16-hour car drive, or 1500 km to get there... 😃

But, at least there is no ocean in between! 😂

Hermosooooo

Thanks! It is!

Super wow! How i wish later in my life i can go there too because since before my thought is that the first place im going to visit outside the country is Paris

I hope you get to visit there! I really love traveling in France!

for some reason i feel uncomfortable at the highs

Some people do dislike heights.

What a gorgeous photo! What impressive views are there from a height. It's very cool.

When it was built it was the tallest structure in the world. It still has pretty done impressive views!

Even though I didn't get on the plane, I feel like I was there, too!

I think your granddaughter had a wonderful trip and got a lot of new emotions from what she saw with her parents. I was also going to visit Paris with my eldest daughter, but now it has turned from a plan into a dream that may not come true. I hope that my daughters will visit there someday and will also show me photos from their trip.

Awesome! you are blessed with a wonderful family 🙂 Cool to see the Olympics prep like the ovals on the tower and the beach volleyball venue.

They said the city is clean and looking ready for company!

Hello dear friend @melinda010100 good morning
How beautiful that your granddaughter was able to fulfill her dream of visiting this beautiful place.
I love the photographs you have taken, the aerial views are really beautiful.
I take this opportunity to wish you a beautiful Sunday

It's such a good feeling when our grandkids are happy, isn't it?

Hello lady @melinda010100
This is one of those places that I would love to visit one day.
How great that your granddaughter met and took these beautiful photographs

I hope you get to go there!

Everything is impressive: the construction of the tower itself, its dimensions, that trip in the elevator, and the incredible views from above!! But above all this I see your granddaughter's love and her desire for you to be there by her side... ❤️

Thanks! It was a special trip for all of us and I hope this is only the beginning of her travel adventures.

Very nice photos, I've not been there for a while 🗼

You are in the south of France?

Center East (Lyon)

Ive been in Annecy, but I don't think in Lyon.

Annecy is a very nice place, my brother lives there, it's not far from Lyon about 1h30 in car.

I spent a week in St Nectaire and then a week in Manigod... A month long road trip around France in 2004 so I don't remember the exact route, but I was certainly close to Lyon. I love the French countryside so much.

It must have been a wonderful trip, and a month is a good length of time to discover a country.

In total all my trips to France have added up to 6 months.... And I still couldn't speak a word of French beyond the basics 😁

Beautiful pictures, makes me miss Paris! Did they have the courage to visit the catacombs?

It looks like she's having a blast, that's a great trip when you're fresh out of High School!

Not the Catacombs. They were only there for a week.

Last time I was there they still weren't open to the public, it would be an interesting place to visit. The bones of 4 million people stacked decoratively because they were running out of cemetery space!

It would be interesting, I'm sure!
