Years ago when MS began to make gardening more challenging for me I began planting daffodils all around my yard. Planning ahead!
They are the perfect spring flower for me to grow as they come up every year and even spread a little. The deer do not eat them and I have a celebration of springtime right outside my windows, with no further effort from me.
As requested by @untilwelearn, here are some daffodil photos.
I planted collections of high quality bulbs, and now have a lovely selection of different varieties that bloom at different times and extend the flowering time.
Daffodils love cool weather, so this has been a perfect year for them. It always seems to snow on the daffodils one time each spring, and sometimes the heavy snows beat them to the ground, which gives me an opportunity to rescue them and put them in a vase and enjoy them in the house. This year the snow did not cause damage and they all continue to bloom beautifully out in the yard.
