Guardians and scary faces

Wroclaw Town Hall bw 7.jpg

I have shown you this town hall building before. But it is almost mandatory to shoot it more when visiting Wroclaw. And since I had some time before a meeting, I took a slow walk around it... again.. and looked for some details that I had not paid much attention to before.

There was no camera with me that day, so my phone had to do the job.

I so wish I had a zoom lens with me. All the figures and detailed work around windows are asking to take a closer look.
Next time I guess :)

The bear statue that stands near the wall is a fountain, though I can't remember seeing it working.
It was created in 1902 and is fully made of bronze. It disappeared during the war and came back to the city center in 1998. It is 1.5 m tall and weighs 270 kg.

Lovely shaped gothic windows.

And a bunch of scary faces around. This is something I never noticed before. Look at the photos above and notice the screaming man on the left being tortured by the dog creature.
Great thing to put right outside the window :)

The eastern entrance is guarded by these two fellas. The one on the left is supposed to be a mayor's messager, and the one on the right is a guard with a spear.

The local crowd :)
Always there...
Always watching..

As a bonus: a monochrome photograph from 1945. You can see the damage that the World War II left behind.

Wow!!! Your phone took these pictures?

Yes :) It does the job.

maybe there is no more water below that bear bronze. So happy that they return the statue back to where it was supposed to be, sometimes some artwork will lost forever.
The screaming man under the dog looks scary, but it will easily go unnoticed if we don't pay a good attention.

There are other fountains around and they all work. Maybe I was there at the wrong time and it was just turned off for some reason.

Oh yes, and I am sure I will noticed something new next time I visit.

Interesting imagery in that building. The dog creature torturing the man in the window... hahaha... a bit sadistic.

It's beautiful that square and they have taken care over time to restore everything and keep it as it was originally created. The war left it in very bad condition. 🙁

Hahaha I loved it! :D Imagine someone sitting in his workshop thinking what to decorate the windows with.
"Oh I know! Lets put some dogs and screaming human heads!" :D

The city was very badly destroyed during the war. Took a while to rebuild it with the same look as before.

Wow, what a bewitching beauty! So gothic and dark. I love this.

So gothic and dark. I love this.

Exactly! It is awesome.. especially without colours.

Perfect shot my brother @ewkaw, there are some strange creatures on top of this building, they look so sharp but it's so fun, can I know what you photographed these tall buildings using?

I used my phone. I always write what I shoot at the end of the post :)

I feel like I was 100 years ago with the photos you have😍😍

Haha that is not a bad thing :D Means photos are good.

Kinda sad that our modern architecture only seems to be focusing on efficient and low cost. Vintage buildings aesthetic value is clearly unbeatable. I really hope they don't make any changes to these buildings and maintain it as it is.

Also Im very surprised that these shot's were take on a phone. OnePlus 7 pro was a really good phone. Can't say the same about it's successors though.

Different style, different times, different recourses I guess.
I dont think they will change anything. It is quite a historical one.

I had a oneplus 2 as well and I love it too (I like the phone shape better than the 7). I havent tried any of the newer ones. I would think it should be better.

This kind of old architectural marvel is still present in some of our of religious places. The stone work is incredible. Kinda makes you wonder about the mastery of the labourers back then. They didn't have the equipment or tech like we do and still their work made a mark on our world.

Actually OnePlus lost its game after the 7th series. It's best to use Sammy or iPhone for photography purposes. People here are complaining about OnePlus not having enough battery stocks for the 7 series phones. Most of them refuse to sell it because of its performance and camera quality. On top of that they are getting notorious for making green line issues in their displays on most of their latest models.

Yea, makes it so much more special, right?

Actually OnePlus lost its game after the 7th series.

I'll keep that in mind when its time to change it. Though it will be a while... I usually wait until they break :P

Yep they are definitely special indeed!

I used my old low end phone for 5 years. I would have used it more if the phone didn't heavily lag. Got a new badass phone recently thanks to Hive 🤩.

It disappeared during the war and came back to the city center in 1998

He is like my little friend, the Dreaming Buddha who likes to play this disappear-appear game 😁

It contagious! :o

You have shared beautiful photographs of the town hall and surrounding buildings here. One thing I learned from your photographs is that black and white photographs of buildings or streets always look beautiful. Thank you very much for opening the doors of Discord for me. @ewkaw

Thank you! And I agree that the street photography looks great in monochromes. Something I am trying to master.

Beautiful architecture! somehow it reminded me what we see in harry potters movies...

specially this kind of doors

i loved how you focused on the details, these are increidble.

Oh yea... the door shape is pretty cool (I havent see a single Harry Potter, so cant compare though).

Thank you :)

I was truly amazed to see the results of my brother @ewkaw's black and white photo shoot, it was extraordinarily beautiful 👍

Thank you :)

I really like the beautiful and aesthetic architecture of the building, knowing that the bear statue there was made a long time ago, I am even more amazed because the bear statue has survived for so long to this day without any damage. The photos you share are also very good and are my inspiration when taking pictures of beautiful buildings.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

Wow, it's really interesting friend, this is the architecture of a building that can make us nostalgic for the past, I really like every picture in this post

Thank you! :)
