I have spent so much time looking for other types of photos, focusing more on street photography and getting different types of natural light in the golden hour that I have forgotten some previous work, some portraits I did with these girls at night on the lit streets of Corrientes Avenue in Buenos Aires. I was editing some other photos in lightroom and as I was doing so I saw that I still had series from this day that I edited but had not shared with you.
I selected most of these photos that we took near the entrance of a tango place, I don't remember well if it was tango specifically, the truth is that this entrance is very illuminated, there are many small lamps that decorate the place and half way to the Colón theater, we made a stop there where we took some photos.
Mary has done a few sessions before but she would tell me that mostly she didn't feel comfortable or most of the final photos she didn't like very much, she also didn't have the fluency to perform naturally in front of the camera, well this all changed as we worked together because I focused on creating a friendship, on finding similarities between her and me in terms of the final results of this session.
That was a small plus to break the ice but definitely what created a connection was knowing that we were both born in the same state of our country, that we knew the same people and that we had even worked in the musical field with known people and friends in common.
We laughed, we told each other anecdotes, we talked a lot and we created that "trust" so that everything came out as natural as possible.
For some of these photos I used a flash on the camera and in others it was with light offered by the street, the LED advertising signs and the entrance of this tango venue. I really liked her outfit for this black and white series, her attitude is great too. I hope to work with her again in the future.
So, I hope you like this set of urban portraits :)
That's all folks. Thanks for stopping by and appreciating.
