A Day in My Life: Nature, Nurturing, and the Joy of Simple Living

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITYlast year

Hello there, Hive Community! Today, I'm excited to share with you a day in my life, today (6 January 2024), which was filled with small adventures and simple joys. It's a story about nature, family, and the satisfaction of doing hands-on work, all while basking in the warmth of the sun.

My day dawned with a delightful culinary experience, thanks to my wife's exceptional cooking skills. The breakfast table was graced with chicken fried mee, a dish that dances with flavors. Alongside, my mug of coffee, devoid of sugar but rich in aroma, stood as a faithful companion, ready to inject a burst of energy into my morning.

While sipping my coffee, a heartwarming scene unfolded before me. My youngest son, growing up so fast, was busy pumping air into his bicycle tires. This simple act of independence filled me with pride, a testament to his evolving capabilities and self-reliance..

In front of me, the welding machine waited patiently, a silent yet powerful tool in my day's agenda. It was a stark reminder of the gate's broken reel needing repair, a task that would require both skill and patience, facilitated by this indispensable piece of equipment.

On my way to the drying area, I was momentarily distracted by the playful antics of my two cats. One was striking a humorous pose on the cool cement, while the other lurked behind a leaf, playfully preparing to pounce. Their carefree play was a joyful sight, offering a lighthearted start to my day.

The welding rods, essential for my day’s work, lay basking in the sun to dry. Having been stored away, they needed the sun's warmth to be ready for use, a small yet crucial step in my welding endeavors.

There, Kokot, the esteemed leader of our home's security, our beloved dog, was enjoying a well-deserved rest. His breakfast satiated him, and his sleepy eyes suggested he had spent the night vigilantly keeping watch, a loyal guardian through and through.

The broken reels of the gate, serving diligently since 2015, were a reminder of the wear and tear of time. They stood, awaiting repair, a challenge I was ready to take on with both determination and a sense of responsibility..

My next task was in the garden. I prepared by sharpening my 'gagamas,' using a stone I found by the river. This simple act connected me to the earth and to the age-old tradition of gardening, a practice as nurturing to the soul as it is to the soil.

I set about planting long bean seeds, each one a small capsule of potential. Nestled beside our chainlink fence, these seeds held the promise of future growth, a green curtain that would soon adorn our garden's boundary.

Amidst my gardening, a lone mushroom caught my eye. It stood there, an ephemeral resident of the garden, drawing the attention of curious flies. Its brief life was a subtle reminder of the fleeting, yet beautiful, moments in nature.

The planting was completed in a swift twenty minutes, a testament to the rhythm and routine that comes with regular gardening. It was a process both meditative and productive, as each seed found its place in the earth.

I took another moment to enjoy my coffee, its warmth now mingling with the morning air.

My eyes landed on Cuti, who, exhausted from her morning escapades, had found solace on my son's shoe, a quirky choice for a resting spot.

My attention then turned to clearing the wild grass in preparation for new vegetable planting. This patch of earth, which had once flourished with leafy greens, now awaited its transformation, ready to be nurtured back into a productive part of our garden.

Before embarking on the task, I stumbled upon a striking green caterpillar nestled in the bushes. Its vibrant color was a sharp contrast to its surroundings, a living jewel amongst the leaves.

Gently, I picked up the caterpillar, observing its fascinating reaction. The spots on its body, resembling eyes, seemed to react to my presence, a small yet enchanting interaction with a creature of the garden.

I released the caterpillar onto a nearby tree, a small gesture respecting the delicate balance of nature. It was a moment of acknowledging the interconnectedness of all living things, each playing their part in the ecosystem.

Another caterpillar, this one a subtle brown, appeared, offering a contrast to its green counterpart. The diversity in nature's palette is always a source of wonder and curiosity.

Amidst the wild grass, I discovered an abandoned bird's nest. This empty cradle of life, once bustling with activity, was a poignant reminder of nature's cycles of birth, growth, and eventual departure.

The task of clearing the area was both arduous and rewarding. The sun climbed higher, its heat intensifying, as I worked steadily, shaping the land for its next chapter.

Taking a brief pause, I admired our banana tree, its fruits still in the early stages of ripeness. The anticipation of future banana fritters, a family favorite, was a delightful thought amidst the day's labor.

The raised garden bed, now cleared of wild grass, revealed its need for more soil. This ongoing cycle of cultivation and renewal is at the heart of gardening, a constant evolution and nurturing of the land.

As I worked, I encountered snails and insects, each an integral part of the garden's ecosystem. Their presence, while sometimes challenging for our crops, added to the diversity and complexity of our little patch of nature.

Behind the storage room, a hidden garden awaited my attention. Among the tall grass lay chili plants and sweet vegetables, a secret trove of greenery waiting to be rediscovered and revitalized.

Before lunch, I harvested a ripe papaya, a treasure from our garden. The satisfaction of eating fruit from your own backyard is unparalleled, a simple yet profound pleasure.

After lunch, I checked on the welding rods, now dry and ready for use. This marked the transition to a new task, a shift from the softness of soil to the strength of metal.

The welding job was a venture into the realm of metalwork. Though the task was challenging, with smoke occasionally stinging my eyes, the success of repairing the gate reels brought a deep sense of accomplishment.

Post welding, as I rested and hydrated, my attention was captured by a spider on the wall. Its precise movements and the elegance of its long legs were a fascinating display of nature's intricate designs.

Resuming my work, I tackled the tall wild grass, a physical challenge that was both exhausting and fulfilling. Each break, timed with my risingstargame missions, offered a moment of rest and a chance to engage with a digital challenge.

As the afternoon waned, I made significant progress in clearing the targeted area. The sense of nearing completion brought a mix of fatigue and satisfaction. The cleared land, now ready for new growth, was a visible reward for the day's hard work.

The papaya tree, an unplanned addition to our garden, stood proudly. Its existence, likely the result of a bird's accidental seeding, was a beautiful example of nature's serendipity and abundance.

As I looked at my hands, etched with scratches from the day's work, I felt a deep sense of connection to the land. These marks were not just signs of physical labor, but symbols of a day spent in harmony with nature, a day of tangible achievements and simple pleasures.

In sharing these detailed moments of my day with the Hive Community, I hope to inspire an appreciation for the everyday wonders around us. Each task, each observation, is a thread in the rich tapestry of daily life, weaving a story of connection, resilience, and the simple joy of living in tune with the natural world.

What an amazing day working on repairing things and tending to your farm. It's a great opportunity to take care of the various tasks on your farm.

Yesterday, I felt energised. It's a blessing that it's not raining like it usually does. Thank you for visiting, my friend.
