Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you and your family are always healthy and have more fortune, amen. Tonight I am with other residents watching a wayang kulit performance, wayang kulit is an ancestral heritage that is still loved today.
In the era of the Wali Songo, wayang was a way to spread Islam because Javanese people have always loved their culture. Over time, wayang has become an icon of my country and I am happy because every year the village holds a wayang kulit performance.
The language in wayang uses Sanskrit Javanese or refined Javanese which I don't know the meaning of but after a few scenes I finally understood it. The storyline contains important moral and philosophical messages for our daily lives.
When you enjoy the wayang kulit performance, you will be treated to Javanese songs called campur Sari. The singers are called sinden, they wear typical Javanese female clothing. The sinden not only sing Javanese songs but they also dance.
Musical instruments made of brass called gamelan, over time musical instruments were added with modern musical instruments such as drums and organs.
There are two characters in the puppet world, namely Pandawa who symbolizes goodness and Kurawa who symbolizes evil.
The main drama is called the Baratayudha War which is usually performed around three in the morning but before the main drama, usually the performance is interspersed with joke dramas with the term goro-goro.
Behind me there were many visitors who were not from my village, they were very enthusiastic about enjoying it.
Luckily I was the invited guest and just sat there with the men who had the same hobby.
Below are some of the puppet scenes that I photographed and present to you:
Hopefully you are entertained and thank you for visiting my blog.
