I promised @shawnnft that I would attempt the January 2025 Eating Out Challenge so here I am!
The restaurant that I will be eating out at this time will be Swensen's Unlimited!
I believe some of you will be familiar with Swensen's and have either dined at their restaurants, or enjoyed their ice-cream and desserts. So I am sure you will be asking me, how is this considered "New Food"? This time round, upon invitation from two of my friends, we decided to try out their 1.5 hour buffet! I have never eaten a buffet at Swensen's (think unlimited ice cream flavours!!!) so it's something new and I thought it was interesting to try this out.
Being situated at Vivocity, if one is lucky to get a side table, there's also amazing scenery to admire while you eat. But bear in mind, there's only 1.5 hours so don't forget about the time! Hehe!
This was their hot/cooked food section. Lots of dishes from rice to noodles, from chicken to beef to fish, and sides range from onion rings to french fries, and many more! I was kind of stuck between whether to eat more of these food or the desserts actually.
There's rosti and pizza, and there's also a booth where you can order pasta too.
This was their cold section, lots of seafood! There's crab, scallops, prawns, clams, and many more. For those who are planning to eat crab, do take note of the time because it's usually quite time consuming to de-shell and all that. Still a very impressive spread.
They also had soups, two in fact, Cream of Chicken and Cream of Corn.
This was the salad section. A wide spread as well.
Desserts! There's apple crumble, brownies, and waffles over here!
A whole tray of durian pengat!
Wow just look at this! There's an assortment of nyonya kueh as well as an entire tower of macarons!
And moving on to their specialty! Their ice-cream! They had two huge containers and you can see the amount of flavours they house! At least 20 flavours! And because this was part of the buffet, this meant we could actually try everything!
Not only they had a whole lot of ice-cream flavours, their options for toppings were amazing too. I shudder to think of the amount of sugar that I will be consuming. Lol.
This was my first plate of food! There's beef steak, fish (without the chips), sausage, pizza, and rosti!
Another plate of good food! They had mini burgers, french fries, salmon and black pepper crayfish.
I also had some prawns and soup. I would have gotten more but I needed to save space in my stomach for dessert!
This was my non ice-cream dessert plate! There's many nyonya kueh and durian pengat as well!
The amazing thing about having 3 persons was that we could share our food, which meant we could sample more flavours! Here's a sample of what we had. They had a wide spread of flavour, ranging from the fruity ones like Mango, Durian and Lychee, to the classic ones like Chocolate and Vanilla, as well as the slightly more exotic ones like Tiramisu and Hokkaido Milk. They all tasted great! If you have tried Swensen's ice-cream, you would know!
And more!
The total bill (which had the date stamp!) for 3 persons came up to almost SGD 180 (USD 131), so that's about SGD 60 (USD 44) per person. To be honest, I felt it was a little expensive, with good reasons. Don't get me wrong, the spread was awesome, with a wide variety of cooked food and an amazing ice-cream and desserts sections, but we only had a time limit of 1.5 hours so it felt pretty rushed and we couldn't really sample everything to the fullest. If I had 2 hours, I probably could enjoy more scoops of ice-cream! Haha.
So that summed up our new year and new food experience! Thanks for reading and hope the food didn't make you too hungry! :P
In case anyone is wondering, this sharing is not sponsored in any way.
