Into Ruins is a rougelike dungeon crawler for PICO-8. In this game you explore the dungeon on a hexagonal grid. You fight enemies and obtain items as you move deeper into the ruins.
I like how deep the game's systems are despite being simple. The visuals drive the eerie atmosphere home despite their low resolution. Into Ruins makes use of PICO-8 limitations to their full potential.
Being a rougelike game, each run is different. Though, the difficulty of each floor is the same. (I keep dying to frogs in the 3rd floor for some reason.)
Scattered around the ruins are Crystal Orbs of various colors. Their effects seem random to me. Some heal you, some teleport you to another area of the ruins floor. There are items you could use to identify these orbs effects, but I haven't gotten the hang of the game's systems yet.
After playing for a few minutes, and dying a few times, I stopped the recording. Still, this is one of the PICO-8 games I'd like to play again.

PICO-8 is a Fantasy Console designed to create, share and play small retro-inspired games. Games made for PICO-8 are constrained in aethistics, code and size to encourage creativity. PICO-8 comes with a built-in code editor, graphics, and sound tools. Games are distributed in image files called Cartridges. In this series of videos, I discover great games made on this Fantasy Console, letting you discover these games with me.
This playthrough was recorded on a Linux (PopOS) Laptop.
