I hope everyone is have a good Wednesday so far. Hump day so half of the work week is almost gone! So to celebrate I decided it would be fun to share some of my favorite silver, the Silver Striker tokens! I typically like to collect ones from defunct casinos that are long since closed down, but I also have always enjoyed the Luxor, Las Vegas tokens. The Egyptian theme is always a lot of fun! So without further ado, have a look!

I love the Luxor silver commemorative tokens, it's the only casino with an Egyptian theme and their tokens are always really cool. Later editions of this token they place King Ramses name above the chariot. One particular point I liked on this one was it was made at the Sunshine Mint who always produce nice silver products. Definitely a great items for collectors and silver stackers alike!
Since they mention King Ramesses II (Ramses) I thought it might be interesting to cover a bit about his life. He's often know as Ramesses the Great and was pharaoh for over 66 years, born in 1303 BC and died 1213 BC. He was responsible for the building of the temple of Luxor (and many others) from which the casino takes it's name. During his reign he had multiple war campaigns into Syria, Libya, and Nubia. These amassed large amounts of treasure and wealth for the Egyptians. He also managed to achieve a peace treaty with the Hittites avoiding a major war. He was very effective military leader both on the battlefield as well as a negotiator .

Ramesses II is remembered as a builder and a warrior. He died at 90 years of age having outlived most of his wives and children. He was buried in the Valley of the Kings but his body was moved by priests to protect it from looters. His mummy was found among the Royal Cache of with at least 50 other kings having all been moved there to protect the bodies of the kings.
