Silver Strikes are Limited Edition silver tokens that were won from slot machines. Silver Strikes are what most of us refer to them as, and some call them "Silver Premium Tokens." Slot machine winnings in the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada in 1992 yielded the first of these tokens. Numerous US casinos, some Canadian casinos, the Caribbean, and cruise ships all issue these tokens.
The $2 and $3 strikes are constructed of brass. $7 silver strikes weigh about 0.65 troy ounces and are.999 in weight. $10 strikes have an exterior ring made of brass and a center insert made of.999 silver. It weighs 0.60 troy ounces of silver. A new type of center insert with less silver (~0.50) and thinner, surfaced sometime in 2005. The current Silver Strikes being issued today are almost all $10 denominations.
