TODAY'S TOPIC:
HOW TO SERVE GOD AS A CHRISTIAN YOUTH
BIBLE TEXTS:
1 Timothy 4:12-16
KEY VERSE:
Don't let anyone despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct,, in love, in faith, and in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12).
CONTROLLING THOUGHT:
Our word and conducts are all important if we want to serve God acceptably.
THE MESSAGE:
In verse 12 of our text, there are at least five ways one can serve God as a youth. They are, in words, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
By Your Words: The first way you can serve God in your youth is by weighing your words before speaking. You must learn to speak words of kindness and encouragement. Don't engage in idle words.
By Your Conduct: The second way you should serve God is through godly character and behaviour which are in tandem with the word of God and Christian values and morals.
By Loving God and Loving People: The third way we should serve God is by loving Him and loving people. The Bible teaches us that God is love, and anyone who loves is born of God and knows God. We must love God sacrificially and love people genuinely.
Living by Faith: The fourth way you should serve God is living by faith! Heb. 11:6 says, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him".
Living in Purity: The fifth way we should serve God is by living holy, "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation...",1 Pet. 1:15.
If we want to serve God acceptably, we must match our words with
actions, the two are essential in serving as Christian youths.
