A Painless Bone-fracture! | Random Chamber Talk | December 31, 2024

A 24-year-old young man visited me yesterday. Around 5 days before, while playing football, he got an injury in his left shoulder shoulder girdle area. He didn't bother because he didn't feel any pain during the injury or afterward. 1-2 days later, he noticed somewhat swelling above his left collarbone, close to the shoulder joint. He also found it somewhat difficult to move his left upper limb. However, there wasn't any significant pain! Hence, he continued his regular work using both upper limbs.

He visited me for the swelling mostly. When I pressed over the swollen area, he didn't feel any pain. However, I felt something abnormal (abnormal sound). I advised for an X-ray (they also came for this). The X-ray film came like this (below)!

Look at the normal collarbone (indicated by the black arrow). Now look at the abnormal one (red circle). There is a displaced fracture at the left collarbone! Seeing the fracture, we all were surprised! Such a displaced fracture without pain!!

I suggested using an arm sling, stopping using the left upper limb, and consulting an orthopedic surgeon ASAP.

My son had this same break but never had it fixed. I hope you are having a Happy New Year's Eve.
!LOL

Sorry to hear that.

Why didn't he do the fixing?

He came to me and said he was in a fight and the other guy hit him on the shoulder with a big brick, I took him to the hospital nearest to us and they would not take him because of no insurance, I was going to take him to another hospital that would take him without insurance but he got mad and said forget it, and walked out.

Now he is in jail and a fight broke out, he has 7 staples in the back of his head. He said he was defending someone else.

Oh! Sorry to hear that!

He has a habit to engage in fights!!
