TACO TUESDAYS : My Favorite Butter!!! And The End of Kinpira Gobo Saga

in FreeCompliments2 months ago

Today Taco Tuesdays would be a different one, because I have merged it with my InLeo @leogrowth themed post. We have a good topic today for our Inleo Monthly Prompt, it is about sharing our favorite Butter or Margarine here.

I live in Indonesia however my taste for Margarine and Butter is a bit different than others. let say I am not the mainstream guy in term of taste. If you talk to Indonesian, mostly they will say the best Margarine is Blue Band and the best butter is Wijsman. Blueband is the best affordable one, while Wijsman is the expensive but the taste is the top of all.

Rather than going with Wijsman and Blueband, I prefer to go with these imported brand such as Lurpak and Anchor. Price wise and Taste wise, they are in the middle, between Blueband and Wijsman.

Now let's focus with the taste...

The one that I like the most is this Elle $ Vire salted. This is subjective, but it's taste suit me well. If my friend ask me which butter should they get, usually I recommend this one.

However Elle $ Vire is not my favorite. I know for some of you, this sounds bizzare because my favorite is not the one that taste best...

My favorite is this local brand from Indofood, Orchid Butter. I believe it doesn't give the best taste but I have my own reason why this is my favorite.

This is my favorite breakfast since decades ago. A good toast, with some chocholate sprinkles and Orchid butter. I can change the bread, I can change the the sprinkles, and I can change the butter too... In the end the taste can be great too... however only with Orchid butter, although it doesn't give the best taste, It gives me the feeling that...

I AM AT HOME NOW

Yes, the homie feeling... I lost everything during Covid Pandemic and I had to go back to my parent house... This butter somehow on those days was the only one that gave me the feel that I was at home.

So what's your Favorite Butter then? Share with me on the comment

KINPIRA GOBO

In my last two TACO TUESDAYS posts here:

I have shared this picture:

I gave that challenge, to guess what vegetable it was. @gwajnberg gave Bean Sprout, @mintymile had Raddish and I would not count @deraaa Spaghetti answer there LoL. So I decided even both of the failed to give the right answer, I would send some reward for them here:

I know some people come to interact too, although they did not give answer and I did not tag them here, I really appreaciated your time and interaction there, thanks guys for all of these

And now to close that Trivia, the right answer is KINPIRA GOBO. For most of us here Kinpira Gobo might sound a bit alien to you, however it's a famous Japenese Dishes and you can googling them same as this:

image.png

So the words are Kinpira and Gobo. Kinpira means a sautéed and simmered vegetable, served as a side dish in your meal. Gobo is Burdock root.

When I was a little kid, I did not want to eat Gobo because It came to my mind that eating Gobo was the same as eating root. When I saw the Burdock Root plant, I kept thinking like...

WTF, I am not a Goat or Giraffe, Why would I eat a tree trunk?

I started to eat Kinpira Gobo when I was on Adult age, above 21 years old. That time I started to think why on earth adult people love to eat this tree trunk, so I tried it. I did not like it at that time, however nowadays Kinpira Gobo is one of my favorite dishes... I guess age changes people appetite too.

Most Kinpira GOBO comes with a combination of Burdock and Carrot only. Some said it's the best combination, however some prefer to add variation such as Lotus root, Shitake mushroom, and Seaweed. My ordered Kinpira Gobo above was a bit fussion one, It was my first time having Kinpira Gobo with some Pi-Man. Pi-Man or P-Man is what Japanese call to Paprika.

Anyway eating GOBO is good for your health. I think if there is a vegetarian dish that I could suggest to my vegetarian friends, Kinpira Gobo is one of those recommended food. Even if you eat Kinpira Gobo with just a plain warm white rice, the taste is still excellent.

Ok That's all for today post. Try Kinpira Gobo if you have some time, get the experience of becoming a Goat or Cow, eating a tree trunk!!!

ok you got me first time hearing about Burdock root! that was tricky! About the butter you are almost a sommelier haaha , here I have to use one margarine that is without any milk derivate since my daughter is lactose intolerant!

So just be careful with salty butter, specially when we get older the higher is our blood pressure ;)
