Hello, Good Day Everyone
This week I might post a lot about foodie posts because I am cleaning up some shots that I have in my phone that I can't finish them into my #taco-tuesdays post here. Well the real challenge is not about sharing the pics or the shots, buts more like what kind of messages I want to convey in the post.
Yesterday I shared one post on Indonesian only community, Satu Jiwa and today I might share another one here but this one might be having a bit "darker" theme. It's about having the food we like but we know well we should not eat them. That's why I I name this post:
Sometime We Keep Eating Those food
Above shot was one a lunch I had a few weeks ago exactly when my health was very bad. I ate those dishes which we could call it as Nasi Uduk Udang Bakar, or in english it is Coconut Rice with Grilled Shrimps. Nasi uduk is pretty much the same as nasi lemak in Malaysia, which means Fat Rice. It is made by cooking the rice with coconut oil with some extra herb and spices.
Nasi uduk is high in fat, which is actually a very good for small childrens. This dish help the digestion problem in Children and reduce the risk of stunting. However I am not a children or young kids, I already past my prime. This rice fat is well known as the culprit of increasing cholesterol level and most people here who have cholesterol problem are "forbid" to eat it.
I might fall into that category, I need to maintain my cholesterol level better however I still eat this rice every week maybe once or twice.
Then the second problem is Shrimp. I love seafood, I think I have said that several times in several posts. However I have some medical feedback from a few doctors that they highly recommend to avoid taking any seafood in.
After the last my Sebaceous Cyst removal operation a few years ago, yes the last which means It was not the first time, my doctor even said that It was not something that I should not eat, but it was moor like I must not eat any seafood and high protein diets. After that I stopped taking whey protein drinks and stopped my weight lifting exercises.
And the seafood I picked on that lunch was grilled shrimps. Well, Shrimps is related to high cholesterol, right?
Can't Have All Bad
Well I can't have all the bad ones, so whenever I realize I am eating something that I should not eat, I try to add one or two dishes that are good for health. I hated vegetables in past, however I have tried to make peace with them and somehow I managed to like a few of them in some recipe or culinary only.
One of them is eggplant, this is a vegetable that I would not eat in past. I just disliked it. However I tried several eggplants dishes and turned out there are three dishes that I could eat, and one of them is this... Grilled Eggplant With Chili Pepper Sauce.. Well Maybe the chili sauce makes me enable to eat those eggplants LoL.
Why did I learn to eat vegetable? I really could not recall when it was exactly I started forcing my self eating vegetable, but it was on my early time working partime to afford my living. That time I realize sometime I did not have time and opportunity to get healthy food and almost all my food were far from ideal for my health. So rather than changing my meal, or looking for other food stalls, catering and walking further which is wasting time during urgent deadline or tight schedule, my solution was learning and forcing myself to take at least one more dish or menu that was good for health.
I know that this approach is not the best one, and maybe full of flaws, however after years and decades passed, up to this day I still able to work despite all my health issues, I think at least I am far from wrong
Do You Do This Too?
Anyway I am curious do you do this too, I mean eating foods that you should not take them. Our live right now is not a slow and convenience like those in Drama and Movie, I believe most of us here are in fast paced lives, which Convenient and satisfaction have take over or become more important than health issue in most cases. Let's face it, when people tell us you need to be happy, don't live a stressful live... Most of us here think this person is delusional, full of bullshit, no way people can live that easy live. Although I believe all of us here agree that a very small group of people can reach that live, but not majority.
So yeah, eating food is no longer about getting good quality nutrient for our health. Some even already take dining out as recreation stuff, some even take it as a stress relief while in past maybe dining out was about leisure and social opportunity. I hope despite of those, we still remember our restrictions and think about long term impact.
Ok that's for today, thank you for reading my rumbling here LoL. Anyway feel free to leave any comment below
