Electrified ~ A Way To Win or Make Yourself Lose?

in FreeCompliments16 hours ago

Hi There, How are you today?

I hope you are having a good day. This is my weekly Splinterlands post, I always make posts about Splinterlands in Weekends, because those are the days I have some free time to share my Splinterlands activity here on Hive Blogging. So whoever you are, welcome to my Splinterlands post here!

This Splinterlands post is about Electrified, it is one of the recent ability that currently only one unit who has it.

This is the ability, which it is hurting your own teammate by giving them 1 damage every round. This sounds silly, because in the end, you make your own teammates die too LoL.

And the sole unit who has this ability is Shock Trooper. Stat's wise, this card is actually excellent. He has 4 magic damage for a 4 mana unit, that's ridiculous. At his max level, he will have 5 magic damage with 4 speed and 6 health point. This dude almost have everything.

However his electified is actually killing his own team. So in general we can say Electrified is a handicap ability given to an over powered unit. Maybe in future we will see more super duper strong cards with this ability.

So let's see how our battle will progress with this Shock Trooper

HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE

This is the battle I pick for today post. The shock trooper was there, but he was not in my team. Frankly speaking I haven't got that card, so I was intrigued with this battle regarding it's a rare occasion facing this Shock Trooper in any battle.

Overall my team and my opponent did not have any big gap in our level. We can say both of us there was equal, based on card level-wise.

I hope by facing him this time and analyze why my opponent used him and what he/she wanted to get by using Shock Trooper, I will have better understanding why this unit is classified as an EPIC, which should be above average unit.

Let see how this go

  • The battle started with both side buffing and debuffing both parties. Overall my tactic was focused on speed, that's why I used Supply Runner and Djinn Oshannus, while their tactic focused on exploiting the blast abilities they got from Explosive Weaponry ruleset.
  • They came with 14 melee damage, 3 range damage and 4 magic damage, combined all it became 21 damage per round.
  • My team had 10 melee damage, 5 range damage and 2 magic damage, so our team had a total 17 damage per round.
  • Their fire power was higher, so they should be able to kill us very quickly, however I had tide Bitter who could negate Blast Damage using his Reflection shield.

  • Nobody died in the first round, Wasn't that great? Both of us had more than 15 damage per round and we had this blast damage, but no body died in one round.
  • However this round they lost their Flying Squid due to blast damage, and their Mad Ogre Anarchist due to my Deeplurker opportunity atttack.
  • I lost my tide bitter because their Opportunist Duo, Deeplurker and Mad Ogre, aimed him from the first round.

  • In the beginning of round 3, the situation was 4 vs 5. However you could see above, their health points were already low, thanks to Blast Damage.
  • My units had better health condition because my Tide Bitter negate some blast damage before.

  • And this Round 4 became the last round too. They all died from the blast damage. Good Game

Battle Talk and Closure

So Shock Trooper is suck, right? Well, before we go to that part, I prefer we talk our tactic in general first. We took two different approach to exploit the Explosive Weaponry ruleset

  1. Their side tried to exploit the blast ability by having big hitter, of course Shock Trooper was one of them. They even put two opportunist attacker to make sure they could deliver the blast damage more efficiently by hitting someone in the middle. Did this work? Yes it did, my Tide Biter died.
  2. My approach was simple, I used Reflection Shield from Tide Biter to null the blast damage, and it worked. Although in the end my Tide bitter got killed first from their opportunist attacker.
So both of our approach was right, however I believe mine is the better. Rather than exploiting the damage first, most of the time, reflection shield works better by negating the damage. This is the key point why I won that battle confidently.

Now about the Shock Trooper. I do not think he is bad, but to be able to use him, we need to play a bit out of the box. This is the card you need to outsmart your opponent, not something you could use with some text book tactic.

QUICK KILL ONLY META

This card only excels if you plan to kill your opponent in one go, 1-3 rounds only. You can not use this card for a long round battle, because his Electrified will kill his own teammates. So make sure only deploy him when your line up is a Gang Ho or all out attack only.

SMALLER MANA CAP, THE BETTER

I know this is very debatable, but I believe Shock Trooper is not fit for a big mana cap battle. It is not about little league (below 4 mana unit) or not, definitely Shock Trooper is the strongest hitter in little league, but it is more on the defense your opponent could build on big mana cap.

Some players, including me, love to play long run. I mean I play defensively, using heals, triage, and repair, which you need to keep attacking me to break those walls. This kind of battle will put Shock Trooper as the burden, which he keeps damaging his own friends.

In small mana cap, let say below 30, although you could bring big units, there are a limitation there, so this Shock Trooper still can build up QUICK KILL meta.

Anyway, I think even with my weird wordings here, I bet you can get what I want to say here. That's all for today post thank you for your visit here. See you in Splinterlands Rank Battles!!!
