When I first saw this round, it called to me for some unknown reason. I bought it on impulse and it doesn't disappoint. After researching it more, I think I understand more why I impulsively bought it.
This round is dedigned as a tribute to a pirate cob coin. (Source)
I'm sure @kerrislravenhill can understand, as she has an actual cob coin, which is on my list of coins to get. 😁
Obverse
The obverse has many cool designs on it. The most prominent is the cross, an important symbol of faith for seafarers. The lion has always been a symbol of strength and loyalty, indicative of the close bonds pirates forged as they relied on each other. Lastly, we have the castle symbols representing the importance of a pirate's fortress, and safety.
The inscription stating "In Omnia Paratus" means "Prepared for All Things."
Faith, strength, loyalty and protection. In uncertain and dangerous times, these are highly sought after and prized, as much as the treasure at stake.
Reverse
The reverse features the iconic Scottsdale lion. The design is clean and crisp, and proof-like.
Specifications
Purity: 0.999
Weight: 1 Troy ounce
Diameter: 39mm
I paid $27.95, which isn't too bad considering that's about the going rate for 1oz Scottsdale coins and rounds, since they typically carry a higher premium. If you don't have one of these yet, you're missing out. 😉
