Good day,
With only one match left for each player in the group phase, some have already secured a slot in the playoffs. I'll review the situation in groups below.
First, however, a couple of words on how the playoffs will be played.
Playoffs brackets
Two best players from each group and the four best 3rd-placed players advance to the playoffs.A table will be created with the following sorting order:
- Place in group
- Points won
- Total score
- Ranking position before the Season
The 16 players will be paired like this:
#1 vs #16, #2 vs #15 ... #8 vs #9
There's only one match per playoff round.
In later rounds, the brackets will guarantee that the top 4 players after the group stage could meet only in the semifinals.
Schedule
Round of 16
Saturday, September 28 (4 matches) and Sunday, September 29 (4 matches)
I will set the individual games in such a way that players who are usually posting their reports "the day after", will play on Saturday (so we have their results before the next playoffs round).
Quarterfinals
Tuesday, October 1 (2 matches) and Wednesday, October 2 (2 matches)
Semifinals
Saturday, October 5 (1 match) and Sunday, October 6 (1 match)
Final and 3rd place Match
This season the Final will be played on a working day
Wednesday, October 9
Situation in Groups
Let's see here who's already in the playoffs and who still has chances.
Group A
@bucipuci and @racibo have 6 points each and therefore have secured a place in the playoffs. @marianomariano and @edycu007 will play for the 3rd place, but even a win may not be enough. The scores will important, as 3rd placed players will be compared across all 6 groups (4 best join the playoffs).
Group B
@merthin has 6 points here. It is possible that if he loses the last match, he ends up 3rd. But this still guarantees advancing to the playoffs (there are 2 groups where the 3rd players will have 3 points at best). For @cezary-io and @davidthompson57 a win means playoffs. The situation of @homesteadlt is more difficult, as he not only needs a win but also favorable results in the other groups.
Group C
The situation here mirrors that of Group B. @danmaruschak is in, @ptaku and @kap1 need to win the last match. @browery needs a win and then he will wait for complete results from all groups.
Group D
@manuvert and @mushanov are in. @benbow2017 and @alovely088 play for the 3rd place and they will want to achieve a good score.
Group E
@erikklok can get ready for the playoffs. Interesting situation below him - @fredkese, who is currently the last without any points, can still end in the second position. @cryptospa and @timehacker need good scores in the last match.
Group F
@new.things is in, @sk1920 and @itz.inno are in a race for the second place. In the case of @trezzahn, while mathematically it is possible to advance to the playoffs, his low scores so far mean he needs a really high result in the last match.
