It's over! Season 139 has finished and I've reached my highest position in modern for a very long time! It really caught me by surprise as I had not expected to be able to break back into Diamond III. At one point, I thought I might make it to Diamond II, but started falling back down again.
This is really good news as I start the new season in Gold II instead of the awful silver league. With smashing into Diamond III, I decided to rent some extra SPS to try and max my SPS and glint rewards, particularly glint with the soulbound cards changing soon.
I was really happy to increase my glint earnings by climbing higher and you can see it made a pretty decent impact on my glint end of season.
My ranking was over 500 points higher than last season where I had hit 2280. My End of Season glint earnings were nearly 60k which was over 17k than last season, this was much improved being in Gold I and Diamond III where the payouts have been much better.
I was thinking whether I want to buy legendaries direct or go for the chests and in the end I pulled 28 chests.
This was a huge mistake as my chests were absolute garbage and I didn't even pull any gold foils or legendaries to make it worth it. A handful of rare cards and a bunch of energy which is the last thing you need at the start of the season. I played my energy down to 0 at the end of the season...
That pissed me off that I missed at least a guaranteed 2 legendaries and some epics.. I guess I will not bother with these chests again as they really are mostly rubbish and it makes sense to just buy the cards you need.
The main upgrades that I have made this season have included getting the awesome Lux Vega who has proved to be lots of fun to play with and improve my game choices, especially for getting me to Diamond III.
I was only saying last season that opening chests is part of the fun, but yeah, only if you pull something good! 😅
SPS still continues its spiral lower and I am wonder when we might see a bottom so I can stack up again. The current trend is showing a 50% drop the last 2 months and no end in sight. We have lots of usecases for SPS and if the chain is expanded with the new DAO proposals, this could bring more trade and volume to the token.
Compared to last season, there hasn't been so much progress on my soulbound cards, just +2% on rare cards and 4% on epics.. I have some cards I really want to get at max level but I probably won't manage it.
Card prices continue their death spiral and I managed to add a few more max level cards to my deck that I thought I even had until now! The first was the awesome Chaos Dragon who is a might warrior with some great abilities!
At just underk 9k DEC, I thought he was quite a good deal to snag and can come in very useful with some high mana dragon line ups. Although in the dragon splinter, we have quite a lot of useful options to choose from at the moment and I am still missing a couple of key cards, but their prices are still quite sticky. On the one hand, we don't want card prices to drop, but otherwise we also like to pick up bargains.
Another great card that I maxed out is the powerful Arkemis the Bear. I had him at quite a high level, but now at max level, he is a beast and comes in very handy for quite a few battles.
Supply Runner was another neuteral card I didn't realise wasn't at max level and so I maxed him up. Gem Meteor is another not so well known Gem that I snagged.
Finally I also snagged a Chaos Agent who is really deadly at max level and before I had him at quite a low level which was not so effective.

The Splinterlands DAO proposals have both passed and it looks like we will get the SPS chain developed and the Splinterlands company will do it instead of Peak team, even though they are more expensive. I'm not quite sure how the big price difference came about.
The other proposal was for the development of 5 new promo cards. So it will be interesting to see what cards they will come up with and how much they will cost. Compared to Chaos Legion, they could be more expensive.
The Splinterlands Hive DHF proposal is currently not passed after passing for a short time. There is currently just under 27m HP voted for it, but they require at least 31m HP. Usually Hive DHF has been a pretty easy money grab looking at other proposals where they have made just a Zealy campaign or something similar, but Splinterlands has not succeeded so far. There were some questions about the lack of a plan for the funds and they couldn't say what they need them for until they get them. Perhaps it will be worked out soon.
How was your season?
