The latest DAO proposals have passed that brings pay to play Battle Pass in the wild league, which is aimed at reducing bot farms and bots and therefore will make it uneconomical to play there with a bot.
I am generally in favor of a Battle Pass format of gameplay. I have seen it in some card games and it can be quite fun to unlock rewards as you play a season and get additional bonuses and ingame rewards. I will see how it unfolds and what effect it will have on the game.
Many players are using a bot to play in wild and this will basically nerf those returns. This means that earning from Splinterlands for doing nothing is coming to an end for many. This is causing an exodus of inactive players, but asset holders from the game as many players do not want to go back to playing the game so much.
With the focus on modern league, the rewards for real players in modern are looking pretty good, although there is a catch. You need to have a pretty good deck to play as most people are now playing maxed out cards and this seems to be the new standard because of the power creep and drop in card values.
The new rules have also cemented the price cliff for when a set rotates out of modern, the older cards will have much less use now except to collectors. This means that also that the cheaper chaos cards are more appealing than the new rebellion set which is much more expensive. Will things go back to normal once chaos has fully rotated out of modern and max level decks wont be the norm?
I was really surprised to see from this chart on Splintercards that it costs just $674 for a maxed out regular foil chaos legion set!!
If we compare to the new rebellion set, it is $5264 which is quite a difference and gives you an idea of the disparity in card prices. I have only purchased lvl1 rebellion cards so far and cannot see myself getting a max level deck at this price. Will the prices come down or we will be playing with a lower level deck after chaos? I am curious how this dynamic will play out.
The only set that has bucked the trend a little is Riftwatchers. Some of those key cards are still holding their value a little.
With the SPS earnings in modern being quite decent, maybe this will encourage some new players to come in with the low entry cost and chance of good SPS earnings. Today I have earned 56 SPS so far which is pretty decent. I am getting between 2.5 - 3 SPS per match in Silver II. I reached Gold III for the first time this season, but keep falling back down to silver.
Overall I am managing between 50-75 SPS in battle rewards per day which is a total boon and worth around 0,75$, but if SPS rises again, this could be worth alot more.
It takes some grinding to get to gold and it is very competive to be able to stay here. When the new proposal comes into play, the bots will come back to modern, but run by the Splinterlands team with Ghost cards now. I am not sure how that will affect the gameplay and my league placing. Will I get back up to Gold I or Diamond III again?
At the end of the summer we can expect a new soulbound set and I wonder how they will look like and fit into the game. Many bot farms are probably using these powerful cards in the game and will we see the same printing with the new set?
Checking my collection progress, I am almost complete with the regular foil commoners and doing ok with rare cards, but need to up my game with epic cards and finish to max out my key legendary cards.
I am curious about the unlocking process and if we would need to unlock them? Just having them as NFTs and being able to move and trade them is important for me, not just to be able to use them on land.
That's all for this update, thanks for reading.
